Reading though the strings posted, one comes to several conclusions.
First, those who are in DOM witnessing CCM proceedings are being carried away. And before I go further, I want to make it clear that I am not favoring any part. I am on issues, and on some of the tough questions which are in the public domain in the minds of many Tanzanians, who are still waiting for answers.
I get the impression JF members in Dom are being hurried in posting "strings" and mostly their opinions and NOT either full account/scripts, or in this case an "impartial" summary which could benefit those who have not been privileged to follow. I think JF deserves better; repackaged information that can allow one to give informed comments, and not just a string of yada yada. I am sorry to put it this way.
Now to the issues. Am I getting the wrong impression here? That CCM party Chair who is also President of the country is making a cover up? I mean, he is taking us back to 2005 during the inaugural speech which was overly sweetened and as it turns out it was more of lip-service. And as many JF members are pointing out, there is nothing new, but a well crafted speech to derail Wananchi in focusing on the real issues.
I agree that we are heavily dependant on foreign aid. But we should also agree we are very poor in using that very same foreign aid. Tanzania is among few countries whose budgets are heavily subsidized, yet accountability, embezzlement, is a problem. Corruption is rife, in the end, WHO benefits?
It doesn't make any difference to the majority whether we get donor support or not, THEY dont benefit. That donor support ends up maintaining a colossal government, such a huge cabinet! Payment for bogus companies, kickbacks, unchecked spending... What trickles down to "Wadanganyika" is peanuts...
Let's face this... and perhaps it is time we got less aid so that we could start thinking of ways of redeeming ourselves from this vicious circle. KAMA TWAFIKIRI TUTAENDELEA KWA MISAADA, TUNAJIDANGANYA. To me, donor aid is "grand corruption", and severe arrest to our capacity to recoup!
A good name abroad... SO WHAT? We get more AID? We now of countries who have even been coined "Axis of Evil" but are enjoying huge economic relationships with the so-called "WORLD" than us who have been singing PEACE and cleanliness...
Let's talk about the serious issues: CHADEMA, CCM, CUF, TLP, whatever, let's cut this party smoke screen. WE ARE ALL Tanzanians...
I think CCM Chair and TG, oh; TZ President forgets that he is a very POWERFUL person in his country. I think he should stop going circles but directly address some of the issues that appear to cripple our economy. CORRUPTION, SHADY DEALS, FAILURE to benefit from our natural resources, and lip-service.
In any case, HE still holds the WHIP, HE is President. WE all dully respect and recognize that. But the public senses there are some figures other than the president who are also above the law. Untouchable, even to the President? Let's clean this country of corrupt leaders, and give it a clean bill of health now...
CCM shouldn't turn into a syndicate... too bad it already appears so... In the times of Nyerere, the Mzee would never mince words; he would say it straight "into your face". He was the President, and Chair of the Chama.
We miss that badly...
And the internet... I think no one can stop this... This is global: you either swim or sink, there is no escape!
So, let's not derail from the core issues maiming TZ... And let those who have first hand of info better inform the rest so that we give proper comments, you never know, if the president is receiving SMS from anyone, he may as well be spending sometime at JF, and when he does, JF should provide good critique...
