Mombasa's Moi International Airport Earns Prestigious ACI Best Airport in Africa Award

MIA receives international recognition from Airport’s Council International (ACI World)

The prestigious Airports Council International (ACI World) has awarded Moi International Airport (MIA), Mombasa, the 2023 Best Airport by Size and Region in the Under 2 million Passenger Per Year category for Africa. This recognition comes as part of the esteemed ACI Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey, which rigorously assesses global passenger experiences.

ACI World's ASQ Awards are an annual celebration of excellence in airport customer experience, gauged through Departure and Arrival Surveys. Since its inception in 2006, the ASQ program has solidified its reputation as the leading airport passenger satisfaction benchmark, with participation from more than 400 airports in 109 countries.

The latest accolade from ACI World, delivered in partnership with technology giant Amadeus, reflects MIA’s continuous dedication to enhancing customer experience and maintaining high service quality standards. These efforts are particularly noteworthy given the challenging climate of the aviation industry in recent times.

MIA previously earned the title for the best airport in the same category for Africa in 2021 and 2022, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to passenger service excellence.

In response to this remarkable achievement, ACI World Director General, Luis Felipe de Oliveira, congratulated the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) for setting a global benchmark in airport services. “Congratulations to the whole team at Moi International Airport in Mombasa on their success in the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards. Your dedication to excellence in customer experience sets a benchmark for airports worldwide! Keep setting the bar high." stated Mr. Oliveira.

While commenting on the award, KAA Ag. Managing Director, Henry Ogoye, noted “I am filled with immense pride and joy for Moi International Airport's significant achievement. Winning the 2023 Best Airport by Size and Region Award from Airports Council International is not only an honor but also a testament to our unwavering dedication to excellence in customer service. “

“This accolade reaffirms our commitment to providing exceptional experiences to all our passengers and serves as an inspiration for us to continue elevating our standards, ensuring MIA remains a leader in its category." Ogoye Added.

The ACI ASQ Awards, influenced by direct feedback from travelers, highlight the influential role airports play in the overall travel experience.

What you don’t know is this unfortunate incident was a blessing in disguise since it led to total overhaul of security operations and response….thats why in Dusuit 2 attack, the terrorists were neutralized immediately…. First of all internal security operations are under one joint operation command meaning the coordination of different teams and units is efficient and effective minimizing cases of miscalculations…

Kwa kanda ya ziwa hospitali ya Bugando ndio hospital ya kanda, ni hospital ambayo serikali ina ubia ndani yake, huwezi ukaiweka sawa like other private hospitals. Unazani serikali ni wajinga kiasi cha kuiruhu private hospital iwe zonal hospital bila kufanya kitu!!?

Uko sahihi mkuu, the same case kwa Bugando, serikali haiwezi kuiruhusu hospitali ambayo ni 100% privately owned kuwa zonal hospital
