It depends on what you want to buy…
PPP tracks locally produced goods, like food, housing, etc. in the local currency.
So a poor nation may score relatively well after the PPP adjustments.
But what if you want to buy a Mercedes or Toyota car or truck, or a laptop with an Intel processor and NVIDA chips? Those are bought with hard money, not some local crap currency. (yes, I am hostile to the idea of pushing the useful PPP idea too far to be some universal criteria)
What if you want to buy world travel on airplanes, which requires Boeing or Airbus aircraft, and Jet Fuel - and jet fuel, which comes from oil, which is priced globally, not so much locally?
So if a person is middle class in a moderately developed nation, many of the things they want to buy are priced globally in hard currency, and PPP is irrelevant.

Taking into consideration that Medicine is a caring humanitarian profession, the MD curriculum has been designed in such manner that a graduate physician would demonstrate problem solving capacity (professional reasoning), associated with clearly identifiable professional attitudes, combined with a range of psycho motor abilities (professional skills) and carry with him/her an integrated information base (professional knowledge).
Objectives of the MD Curriculum
The objectives of the College include among others:

• To produce medical graduates equipped with the highest possible standard of practical and intellectual skills well suited to the needs of present and future Tanzania society.
• To produce medical graduates who are motivated to adapt to rapid changes in the medical practice brought about by new technology and to cope with ever expanding research and vast literature.
• To train graduates who are able to show understanding of the ethical basis of medical practice and be able to identify social cultural, psychological and economic factors which influence the health of the individual, family and community.
• To train graduates who are able to show ability to communicate with individuals, families and the community. As a member of health team, the graduate should be able to establish inter professional and inter-sect oral relations in order to achieve prescribed goals.
• A graduate of the College should be sensitive and responsive to community health needs by being able to plan, organize, coordinate and evaluate the health needs of individuals, families and the community as well as being capable of implementing primary health care strategy for the community.
• Giving high priority in training the general practitioners who are desperately needed by the society.
  Since medical education is a life long activity which calls for investing in personal time and resources, graduates should be capable of:

  • Updating ones knowledge and medical practice.

Course Duration
This program is five years long. Upon successful completion of the five years of training, a degree of Doctor of Medicine of the Tumaini University Makumira will be conferred. Upon completion of the five years the graduate is expected to undertake an additional sixth year of apprenticeship in an approved institution before being allowed to practice independently.
Entry Qualifications
All courses are taught in English. Therefore it is imperative that students are proficient in reading, writing and speaking English. It is upon the candidate to satisfy oneself that he/she meets this important requirement and provides evidence thereof (e.g. TOFEL iBTTM score of 65 and above or equivalent) registering for any course at this college
Direct Entry
Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with minimum entry of 8points. Whereby one must have at least C grade in Chemistry and Biology and at least D grade in Physics.
Equivalent Qualifications

1. Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least Five (5) passes including two credit passes in Chemistry and Biology and a D grade in PhysicsPLUS appropriate Diploma or Advanced Diploma with an average of “B+’’ or GPA of 3.5

BSc (lower second) majoring in Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology /Zoology.
