India resumes import of avocados from New Zealand
According to Shinde, there is high potential for avocados from New Zealand to fill the gap that will appear after the Tanzanian season ends. "The avocado market in India for New Zealand origin has been lost over the past few years. However, with this renewed partnership, we are committed to rebuilding and expanding the market. Currently, avocados from Tanzania are available at very low prices, but there is a significant gap in supply during the transition period between Tanzania and Kenya, which is from September to January. This results in a shortage of avocados in India, creating an excellent opportunity for us to position Avanza Avocados as a premium brand."
Shinde admits that the prices for these avocados will be higher, but he feels the quality of these avocados makes up for it: "While Avanza Avocados are naturally more expensive due to airfreight, their quality justifies the higher price. The quality of these avocados is exactly what India's leading supermarkets, five-star hotels, and e-commerce platforms are seeking. These customers are not interested in stocking cheaper avocados; they value premium offerings that enhance their brand image and customer experience."

Avocados from New Zealand will be coming to the Indian market once again, said Dinesh Shinde, CEO of fresh produce importer Anusaya Fresh: "There's been an important development regarding New Zealand avocados coming to India. After mutual discussions, Anusaya Fresh and Avanza have agreed to relaunch Avanza Avocados in India."
