Battle: Dar es Salaam vs Nairobi

Battle: Dar es Salaam vs Nairobi

I double dare you to show me where said that.

That's is what I was asking you to explain, since you are the one who made that comparison.

That's what I have been trying to tell you, watu wa ushago; "malls are things of the past". I just don't understand why you make such a big deal about it.

Kenya is just a copy cat of everything western, without looking deeply into what it's culture and traditions need. You are now flocking into those malls because it's a new thing and western. Once that ride is over (ushamba ukiwatoka) everything will go the way of the dinosaurs.

Mall business model has passed its plateau stage, the boomers generation (people born btn '46 - '64) that embraced it, is now getting old. They don't run the economy and their influence is diminishing.
Wacha mambo mingi and answer this. Why is there a rapid rise of malls in developing economies like Vietnam, China, Kenya, Philippines, Egypt, Brazil, or Malaysia while malls in Developed countries zinafunga?

Eti forest, mutashtuka sana, Mombasa - Nairobi line complete. Full package with an improved bigger ICD in Nairobi. Dongo kundu SEZ under construction which will complement Mombasa port (expansion in progress) and Lamu Port
Nairobi - Suswa line Complete. Naivasha ICD and SEZ under construction.
Naivasha - Kisumu line + Kisumu SEZ (1000 acre land already secured) Planning Stage.
Hii kitu ni long term tulia muone.

I just explained that very thing in the last paragraph.
Nice, now it's our turn in developing countries with our bigger population of millennial and gen z to enjoy the soft life as we secure the bag. 😁😄 So hufai kusema malls zimepitwa na wakati in developing countries ju zinaongezeka like wild fire.

You are saying malls are a thing of the past and using US as a case study. US shoppers could be evading malls but they are embracing other methods like online shopping. Since malls ni ushamba as you put it, how is Tanzania fairing in other modes of shopping which replaced malls? What's your online shopping trends for instance? Last time I checked, Jumia closed their operations in Tanzania while it still remains active in Kenya. What does that tell you?

The thing is, hata hiyo online shopping bado tumewaacha mbali sana

Secondly, why are you using US a case study to showcase trends of malls in other parts of the world? Why don't you just treat the US case as an exception? Malls are expanding in nearly all major developing countries worldwide. From Malaysia in Asia to Brazil in South America and South Africa in Africa. Can't you see that the US case is one of its own? Ama hizi nchi zote where mall culture is expanding ziko na 'ushamba'?

forget that idiot. he's using an explanation for developed country retail trends that he heard somewhere and now he's just regurgitating.

plus malls aren't out fashion it's just the type of mall that has changed. the strip mall concept is alive and kicking in the US

In developing countries the traditional shopping mall is still envogue and it's a sign of growing middle class that have spare money to spend on non essentials

I know, I'm beating the dead horse here, but... whatever! I've said it before, majority of Tanzanians shop at "dukas" which are everywhere in their neighborhoods, they don't need to go to the malls. Are there few people who go to Mlimani city, sure, but that is a very small percentage of the population.

Jumia closed in Tz because they were trying to sell ice to the Eskimos, if you can't sell your product or service, don't blame the customer. That's marketing 101.

Because they are the one who came up with that shit.

... because Kenyans make a big deal out of it, all these other countries are playing it cool.

We have local company called SARAFU that does online shopping also we have Kikuu online the options are many plus we are fond of our dukas and mini markets where we can buy things on credit which is more convenient than buying at inflated prices at the malls.
