Chemistry is a little bit easy compared to physics and biology. The syllabus requires you to learn the following

1-GENERAL CHEMISTRY . By the end of the topic you're supposed to know
-All atomic models
-electronic configuration plus quantum mechanics, etc

2-PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY . This is divided into 5 subtopics which are
-states of matter (harder )
-Electrochemistry (harder )
-Energetics (thermochemistry )-simple
- chemical equilibrium (simple )
-chemical kinetics (bit harder )

This topic can take up to 4 months

3-INORGANIC CHEMISTRY. This topic is divided into 2 subtopics
-GROUP CHEMISTRY . This part covers periodic table with its properties along and down the group such as ionization energy, atomic radius etc. Also you have to explain properties of each group from group 1 to 8
-TRANSITIONAL ELEMENTS - this covers all metals from atomic number 20 to 30 together with their properties like color formation, variable oxidation states etc.
-this topic can take up to 3 months

4-ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. Here I don't know how I can explain but in nutshell it has the following
-INTRODUCTION . Here you have many things to explain like bond formation and bond breaking(homo & hetero), nucleophile, electrophile, free radical. Inductive effects (-&+),etc

-After introduction, which is almost a topic on its own, you start the aliphatic, aromatic, carbonyl, amide, amine and many other compounds. Here all the properties learned in introduction are applied.

-Of all topics this is the hardest (many students like it but they can't pass ). it can take up to 5 months.

5- SOIL CHEMISTRY. This simple

6-ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMISTRY

It's very difficult to prepare a book which can contain all topics which is why each topic is presented in its own book. Physical chemistry alone can take not less than 250 pages (for a simplified book).

Because of its bulkiness the national advanced chemistry exam is divided into 3 papers. Two of them are based on theory while the third one is all about practicals

Ingekua sawa wala tusingekua na haja ya kusoma vitabu vya wahindi katika physics na chemistry bali tungesoma vya kwenu. Kuna siku nilitazama vitabu vyenu vya kiada katika chemistry na nikagundua kuwa graduate wa A level bongo hawezi kabisa kuwa sawa na form 4 graduate wa kenya.

Sisi huku A level mwanafunzi anachagua masomo 3 anayoyaweza ambayo atasoma kisawasawa kwa miaka 2. Mfano wa somo moja tu la physics ambalo mwanafunzi anasoma topics kama 4 tu form 5 ila content yake ni kubwa sana kiasi kwamba wengine huwa wanaamua kuiacha kabisa. Mfano mwaka 2013 mwanafunzi bora katika physics Tanzania alikua na C.

Ukitaka kujionea mwenyewe Google tetea hapo utakuta past papers za A level za mitihani ya taifa. Mpe mdogo wako wa form 4 kama ataweza fanya

Mfumo wa elimu Kenya hapo awali ulikuwa 7-6-2-2 .kubadilishwa kwake ukawa 8-4-4 haimaanishi masomo yalibadilika. Infact yaliboreka zaidi.
