Posh areas are supposed to have privacy which apartments do not offer. Karen, muthaiga, and many other posh areas in Nairobi do not have apartments

According to who? That's your opinion not a rule. Have you heard of Kensington? Knightsbridge? Chelsea? Those are some of London posh areas where you can find some of the most expensive houses/apartments in the world. A lot of posh areas in the world have some areas with apartments. The problem is when you hear or see apartment you think of Pipeline estate and the like.
Masaki is residenti/commercial area. You get everything from apartments to office blocks. I don't like it but it is what it is.
