Kenya’s rice production capacity is not yet maximized. But things are changing in places like Mwea ( do research) .. though the local demand is higher than the supply for now , the trend is slowly reversing. At the same time , if farmers can reap more profit to export it to Japan, so be it. We can turn rice into a cash crop and figure out other cheaper ways to satisfy domestic demand. After all , farmers come first .

Mwea ni 30,000 acre tu ambazo hata mkisema zizalishwe zote hamuwezi ondoa deficit ya mchele.
Japan rice production kwa mwaka ni zaid ya 6mil tonnes with deficit ya in between 990,000 tonnes .
Kenya total rice production haivuki 300,000 tonnes demand ikiwa above 1.3mil tonnes
Bado mnadanganywa tu.
Kipindi nyinyi mnafikiria kuanza kuwekeza kwenye mchele watanzania kwa sasa wanahamia kwenye full mechanization ya mchele hence production inazidi kuongezeka na bei kuendelea kushuka ,
