I personally know of a major player in the industry who leases land using a Tanzanian partner ( I am a friend with his kids who reside in the US) I don’t want to create a controversy but there are many Kenyans especially from Mount Kenya region who do the same. And that’s a fact you can take to the bank. Now Kenyans are in Uganda and DRC doing the same. It’s about affordability of arable land. Kenya land is limited and the most expensive in the region therefore to be a large scale farmer you have sometimes to explore beyond the borders. Plus no country in the region comes close to Kenya in terms of entrepreneurship. Now you know
Lies, land in kenya is not limited, the truth is, large fertile land is owned by politicians and colonisers akina Lor Delamere.

There are over 250,000 Kenyans who have invested in Bongo. They not only create employment but also contribute to the economy through taxes. History has taught us that Protectionism never works. Even China tried it with a devastating failure. It took Deng Xiaoping’s open door policy which allowed mostly Americans and a few others to come in and create wealth. Without Deng Xiaoping , China would still be a huge LDC. Now put that into Kenya/ Tanzania perspective. Unless you want to reverse back to Ujamaa system, your economy won’t sustain this selfish move.
We are governed by laws here in Tanzania. The law explicitly stipulated that for a foreigner to invest in Tanzania a minimum capital of USD 500,000 is required and the investment should be registered at TIC. Sasa nyie mnatuletea wachuuzi toka huko kwenu in the pretext of investors hell nooooo.
