Read the article again and specify which group?… I can see low income people struggling in rent due to inflation which affects even the rent being raised but I maintain my statement… if they fall off below a certain threshold, the government would definitely come through… remember low income earners in Amédica receive so many freebies… from EBT cards ( food stamps) to welfare checks… I know people who earn $5000 checks a month on top of other benefits just sitting at home raising kids… have you heard of the racial overtone word , welfare queens?… google it… my point, there are many ways to get help unless a poor person has no access to proper information….though free money is not all that good… during covid I got 2 checks of $2500 each free and with every tax payer receiving such, am sure was the source of all this inflation that followed…..but the US economy is solid … yesterday, the stock market set an all time high record… my 401 k looking good.. ( Google 401k account)…

The homelessness numbers have been rising every year, way before this surge of illegal migrants at the southern border. The migrants have contributed to some extent but not compared to the number of Americans already in the streets (San Francisco is a good example).

The officials are not willing to solve this problem even though they have the resources to do so, as we saw in San Fransisco before the APEC summit, the city was literally cleaned up in few days. The reason you hear words like "poisoning the blood" about the migrants is mostly a dog whistling tactic to instill emotions among the MAGA crowd, as we are in the election season.

Income is not the only prerequisite to qualify for these benefits, I'm saying the quiet part loud here, "one has to be somewhat dysfunctional to qualify". Low income married couples are usually disqualified and lots of veterans aren't benefited either. This is because state governments tend to promote single motherhood as they can use the data of dysfunctional households to ask for more money from the federal government. This is some heavy shit.

Statistics show that the incarceration rate and single motherhood goes hand in hand and when you look at the rising number of private prisons and who are the share holders, you can make your own judgement of what is being cooked.

You made a good point about covid money, $6 Trillion printed in 2020 alone has caused a lot of inflation but most of that money went to the big pharma and the 1% (the rich). The same scenario happened in 2004, remember the Bush stimulus check of about $600 everyone got? The $1 of $3 Trillion went to the average American, the other $2 was given to the ultra rich and this is how the game is played.
