Though it has been taken over by what I would call conmen. And no, not the ordinary conmen you think of. They are called wash wash guys. Here you will find fuel guzzlers and top of the range cars driven by very young people, many in their 30s and early 40s dressed in classy designer suits and classy damsels giving them company. They live mostly in Kileleshwa, Lavington, Karen and Westlands but their base of operation is Kilimani and along Ngong road where most deals are sealed. You would be forgiven to think that they work with some of the top blue chip companies in the city but alas...you are wrong.

It's a web that includes foreigners as well and well-connected individuals in government. Nigerians and Chinese are the most notorious ones with Indians coming third, of course in collaboration with their Kenyan counterparts who play the lead role.

If you are well-versed with Nairobi, you will notice that when you are in Kilimani, there's a high chance of meeting a fuel guzzler in almost every corner you turn to.
