Parts of Kenya have been hit with a blackout attributed to a system disturbance, barely three weeks after a similar blackout left businesses counting losses.
“We have lost bulk power supply to various parts of the country due to a system disturbance and we are working to restore normalcy within the shortest time possible,” said Kenya Power in a statement on Thursday.
The firm said it will issue an update on the restoration progress in due course.
The blackout follows the power outage that hit Nairobi, Mount Kenya and coastal regions early this month causing disruption to businesses.

Power rationing inatokana na nchi kutokuwa na umeme wa kutosha kutimiza mahitaji ya watumizi on a daily basis. Matokeo yake ni umeme kupewa kwa mgao. Power outage nayo ni ukosefu wa stima in certain areas for a certain period of time say an hour, two hours, half a day, a whole day or two days na husababishwa mostly na technical issues au mitambo za kusambaza umeme kuwa na shida fulani. This can be caused by natural calamities kama Upeo kukata nyaya za kusambaza stima and such kind of things. Usijifanye muelewa na hakuna kitu unaelewa
