Economists put the parameters sir. Are you trying to say you're better than the economists who came up with these parameters? You know, one thing I've realized with most Tanzanians here is - they only agree with something until it doesn't align with their whims. Like now, you trounce GDP because you know it's your weakpoint but if a time comes when your GDP grows beyond ours for instance, you will never stop talking about it. Now, like I told you, GDP per capita is just one of the parameters, not the absolute, but apparently it's so accurate that no country has made the GDP parameter (of being developed) and failed the other parameters.
First of all, which pepper is this that goes for $0.0001 in Tanzania? At least get your facts right sometime even if you desperately want to make a point. $0.0001 is equal to 0.011 Kenya shillings and 0.23 Tanzania shillings - an amount that holds completely no value in East Africa and can't buy anything. Stop being like
Uhuru n Umoja . Think.
One thing you don't seem to understand is, as countries develop, they become more expensive and economists put these into factor when coming up with these parameters. See, as countries develop, people get used to higher standards of living. this means people will charge more for services in richer countries than in poorer countries which makes things more expensive but still, the overall standard of living remains higher. Thus while a farm worker in Tanzania might accept wages of $3 per day, a worker on a similar farm in the US will take a minimum of $7.25/hr which translates to about $58/day assuming an 8hr working day. Despite this, production per acre in the US will be way higher due to superior technology used. This will definitely mean, pepper will cost more in the US but not necessarily proportionate to the wages paid and based on what I gathered, 1kg of pepper in the US goes for
$2.09 per kg while in Tz it goes for $1.5 and not the ridiculous figures you posted. Despite this, living standards in the US are way superior to those in Tanzania. The housing, the roads, nutrition, health, transport, education et al are just incomparable.
NB...........while richer countries might be generally more expensive, there are exceptions for countries raged by war and political instability like the DRC which is more expensive than many more developed countries.
It seems I highly overrated your intellect. You just disappointed me. First of all, why would Ireland, a country of just 6M people and an area of 84,000 sq. km build 240k of high speed rail? Is infrastructure built for show or for use? Where would that kind of infrastructure even fit in a country that small? Are you trying to say Ireland is poorer than India too because India builds bigger infrastructure? Where's your brain? China builds more because it's bigger, has a bigger population and NEEDS that kind of infrastructure but get me an average Chinese and average Irish and compare their lifestyles and quality of lives - that's when you'll understand the meaning of real development because apparently, according to your flawed logic, Tanzania is more developed than Mauritius because you have a longer network of railway. 🤣 🤣 At least you should have chosen another country but Ireland? Dude, you don't know Ireland. Seems most Tanzanians on this forum are in the same group of reasoning.
