You're correct, many people don't know other Einsteins work other than Special and General theory of relativity. But this is normal in any field, you are known for such and such.

Isaac Newton is known for laws of motion and gravity but he also invented calculus and reflecting telescope. He came up with techniques of doing numerical analysis to approximate roots of equations. Not only that but he also gave us a law of cooling. With his color wheel and prism he was able to demonstrate that white light (Sun light) comprises of seven colors (rainbow colors).

He also studied diffraction, which led to the understanding of the bending of light around corners, this insight was later proven by Thomas Young in his slit experiment. This knowledge led to photoelectric effect you mentioned about Einstein.
