Refurbished Kisumu Port attracts investors

The refurbishment and revival of the Kisumu Port has already began bringing in benefits for the county, after the country of Belarus expressed interest in investing in the county.

According to Belarus ambassador to Kenya Mr Dmitry Kuptel, Belarus has been attracted by Kisumu's promising economic growth.
Speaking on Saturday, Mr Kuptel said that investors from his country have been attracted by the revival of the port and the ongoing uplift of the entire city of Kisumu.
He added that they have identified the agricultural sector and heavy machinery manufacturing as the lucrative fields.
Consequently, he noted, his country will set up a tractors' assembling plant in Kisumu, which will as well produce boat spare parts and fishing gear.
“This plant, besides plugging the demand gap for machinery, will also produce associated hardware for fishing gear, boat spare parts and act as a crucial conduit for technology exchange between the partner countries,” said Mr Kuptel .
He spoke in the company of area Deputy Governor Mathews Owilli and officials from the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce.
On the side of the county leadership, Owilli pledged the county government's readiness to support the Belarus' initiative, adding that it will make Kisumu more lucrative to investors.

inawezekana hata london mmeipita kwa kuwa na wingi wa hizo footbridge ila hili jiji la dar si jiji la foot bridge mzee foot bridge haziwekwi kila sehemu ili mradi tu na huwa hatuna desturi ya kuwa na matumizi mabovu ya kifedha.... na isitoshe tupo vizuri kwa upande wa transiportation system kuliko nyinyi hivyo muwe wapole
