Alafu kitu hajui what makes things to be expensive in different countries is the inflation which comes when so many people have the ability to purchase something, this in turn increases the demand against the supply hence higher inflation and increase in prices in such commodities.

A country with low prices means people have no capacity to buy those items in large quantities hence they given low prices to attract them into buying.

Now, the price of something might be cheaper in Tanzania, say a kilogram of meat costs KES 400 in Tz and KES 650 in Kenya. However, the average Kenyan might have the capacity to buy a kilogram of meat every day at 650 while the average Tanzanian might not be able to afford it everyday at 400. That'll make Kenya to have a higher purchasing power that Tanzanian even though Tanzania has a lower cost of living. That's why countries like USA are said to have very high purchasing power even though they have a very high cost of living. Comprehende?
