It's tacky, you can borrow and do a good thing but yours is just tacky. You speak of lacking a soul like someone who doesn't understand what lacking a soul means. You are building a capital on the edge of a town and the capital is full of government buildings whose architecture is a direct yet poor copy of either Arab architecture or the original structure built in Dar es Salaam by your colonists. In case you don't understand what lacking a soul means - that's the exact definition of lacking a soul. A concrete jungle of boring government buildings with nothing else - no recreation, no shopping, no entertainment, no parks, no academic institutions, no vegetation, nowhere for humans to interact and tacky copy of Arab architecture. Nothing screams lack of soul like your city. Brasilia even sounds better.
The 'soul' in this context refers to the historical and cultural heritage of our country related to the building.

The name of the building, 'IKULU' comes from the word 'MAKULU' in kigogo (a bantu language of the natives of Dodoma, which means the residency of Mtemi or Chief). That building is a blend of both African and Arabic architecture reflecting the people of the coastal area.

During the WWI, it was bombed to the ground and later rebuilt by the British. Every section has some historic background and soul to it, from the original central block, the Princess Margaret wing, all the way to the Kikwete building. You're just mad because yours (in Nairobi) don't even have a native name to it, no soul.
