WHO is the one which gives directives on how to manage all diseases, those scientific researche results must be reviewed and accepted by WHO first, and need some inputs before they can be allowed to be used in clinical applications, there are very many things which need to be considered before making use of those research results. In nutshell those research findings are more academic than clinical.
And which number is more important between the upper and the lower reading.. i hear in the 70s, 80s and part of 90s.. the lower reading was taken as more important, and thts where all clinical decisions were made.
but in the recent scientific research, it revealed tht the upper reading, ie. systolic is more important and thts where all clinical and pharmaceutical decision should be based on... it tht true.!?🤔
then why would our african nurses and doctors, and especially east african! still look on the lower reading(diastolic) more, yet scientific findings says otherwise tht the upper reading is the predictor of all cardiovascular events.. eg. stroke, heartattack, kidney and liver failures etc🤔
These are just average numbers there is more to it.
Humans, are not all cut from the same cloth, that's why it's important to put all other things like vitals, symptoms and conditions into consideration. Someone who is always dehydrated will have a higher heart rate and eventually a higher systolic pressure because blood is more viscous, so the heart muscle has to work harder.
My heart rate is between 48-53bpm, and my systolic BP is around 105 - 120mm Hg (at rest) but I'm also athletic, I run 4 miles (6.4km) in 32 minutes on regular bases. Someone else a 49bpm pulse rate would signal a serious health condition.
Some types of food like garlic, vasodilate blood vessels and lowers the number while others like chilli pepper, vasoconstrict blood vessels and results into the increase in systolic number.
Stress is the major cause of elevated blood pressure levels but most doctors don't want to do their due diligence in figuring out the real cause of the symptom. They just gravitate to prescribing medications to lower the numbers, as the condition worsens they increase the dosage, until they can't prescribe no more.
It's up to us (not waiting for the organizations like WHO) to educate ourselves about our bodies, lifestyle, vital signs and food we eat. That way, we can provide enough information to our doctors to better diagnose our conditions, when needed.
