Top 10 Busiest Airports In Africa (2022)

Africa is a key region with a developing aviation sector, contributing to about 3% of total air traffic. South Africa and Tanzania are represented by four air terminals (two each) in our list of the top ten most active air terminals in Africa.

The percentage of departing and arriving voyagers in 2021 is used to assess the busiest airports.

1. Oliver Reginald Tambo International Airport (South Africa)

The Cairo International Airport is operated by Cairo Airport Company and is located in Heliopolis, which is about 15 kilometers from the city’s commercial district in the upper east of the city.

After the O.R. Tambo International Airport, it is the second busiest air terminal in Africa in terms of passenger traffic.

3. Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa

6. Mohammed V International Airport, Casablanca

Mohammed V International Airport is a multi-purpose airport serving the Moroccan capital of Casablanca.

The airport is located in the Nouaceur area and is operated by the ONDA (National Airports Office), with about 10.3 million passengers passing through the terminal in 2019.

The airport has a total of 76 scheduled voyager trips, making it the sixth most active air terminal on the continent of Africa.

It was constructed by the United States in 1943 amid World War II, and it has consistently maintained a stellar reputation as one of the finest and most famous structures in the world since its establishment. ONDA is in charge of the project.

7. Dar Es Salaam (DAR), Tanzania

Dar Es Salaam International Airport (DAR) is the busiest aviation terminal in Tanzania, United Republic Tanzania.

It is also the busiest air terminal in Tanzania and the seventh busiest overall on the African continent, with a scheduled voyager trip of 71 passengers constantly.

8. Zanzibar (ZNZ), Tanzania

9. Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV), Abuja

The air terminal has a total of 59 scheduled voyager excursions, which places it as the ninth busiest air terminal in Africa and the second busiest air terminal in Nigeria.

10. Tunis Carthage Airport

Tunis Carthage Airport Is a major international airport in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital and largest city, and serves as the nation’s primary gateway.

The airport was formerly known as Embakasi Airport, but the name was changed in 1978 to honor Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya’s first president, and a leader in the country’s development and modernization.
