I think what they mean is that these modern cities like Shangai and Dubai look more beautiful that the old cities of US. Which alot of people agree with.

Bro, Dubai na Hong Kong, Taiwan and China in general are different animals. You can not compare with the America's or Europe's museums.

Personally, I love European cities because there is CULTURE and AESTHETICS in them. From gothic cathedrals that have been standing for hundreds of years to renaissance architecture...Dubai and Hong Kong and Taiwan just have skyscrapers! Those things are literally everywhere. Maybe Dubai has some natural attractions like a desert, beaches, luxurious hotels and shopping malls but beyond that there is NOTHING that attracts me. I wouldn’t live there at all!

Well, everyone has their preference. I am most definitely not drawn to modern looks. Frankly, they are overrated. I prefer historical cities and architecture. Yes, modern skyscrapers are beautiful, but they are everywhere, even in Europe, where they don’t prefer building them at all. Even China is now limiting the construction of skyscrapers....look it up.

Well, everyone has their preference. I am most definitely not drawn to modern looks. Frankly, they are overrated. I prefer historical cities and architecture. Yes, modern skyscrapers are beautiful, but they are everywhere, even in Europe, where they don’t prefer building them at all. Even China is now limiting the construction of skyscrapers....look it up.

I too prefer the old architecture of European cities. Some cities even have castles that were built in the 16th century still intact. Those red or brown rooftop tiles make the cities look good. The gothic design, the old cathedrals e.t.c.

The only way to meet housing demand and use as small land as possible is to build vertically! Only Dubai builds skyscrapers because they think it’s fun, and they’re doing it to attract tourists....after all they are stinking RICH! All in all, you should expect tall buildings in nearly every major global city! Some cities, however, prefer their traditional building style which doesn’t incorporate the construction of mega tall structures!

Have you ever heard of anyone visiting Shanghai to see tall buildings? There is so much beauty in old architecture. Ask European cities like Paris and you’ll know how many tourists visit their “museum buildings” per year and the amount of money that France earns as a result.
