Waafrika ndivyo tulivyo?

Waafrika ndivyo tulivyo?

astaghafirullahi !

Mungu alisema"Ombeni mtapata"........mhm, siendelei !

Hapa uesei naona hii kitu haja-make headlines,na translation yake ni kwamba its a none issue and old school rascim out of gas!!!. Nenda hapo Harvard, Yale,Princeton, Connery, John Hopkins au MIT pale Cambridge,Mass uone watu weusi kuanzia Nuguz na Waafrika toka homeland wanakata nondoz na wengi tu ni head of depts. Ukienda pale Longwood...Harvard school of Med kuna watu weusi kibao na one of cardiologist bingwa pale Brigham and womens ni mama mmoja wa kinugu.

Bado traffic lights, the McCoy guy mpaka waka-coin ile famous phrase "the real McCoy" and the list goes on and on..........to infinite, hilo zungu ni baguzi na lipo $$$$ driven kwani controverse sells!!!!!.

At 23, the Youngest Pilot to Solo the Planet

The usual mix of celebrities and wiseguys were mingling at Rao's on Monday night when Sonny Grasso entered with an entourage that included a young black man dressed in a brown flight suit.

Barrington Irving, 23, on June 27, at Opa-Locka Airport near Miami, after a 97-day solo flight around the world in a single-engine plane.
You could hear a diamond brooch drop as the entourage made its way to their table amid the fortunate diners who had managed to get a table at Rao's, the East Harlem restaurant legendary for its exclusivity. The men and women in suits and skirts paused, their forks lowered and their eyebrows raised. "Who's that?" asked a man in a silk shirt sitting at a back table beneath an autographed photo of Jerry Lewis. "Where's he from?"

A few minutes later, Mr. Grasso, one of the two real-life cops depicted in the movie "The French Connection," held a drink high over his head, and asked everyone - including Conan O'Brien, who was seated at a nearby table - to join him in a toast to Barrington Irving, a 23-year-old pilot from Miami Gardens, Fla.

Mr. Irving, a senior majoring in aeronautical science at Florida Memorial University, completed a solo flight around the world in a single-engine plane last month to become the youngest and first black pilot to accomplish that feat.

"My plane had no radar and no de-icing equipment," said Mr. Irving, enjoying a plate filled with chicken and roasted peppers shortly after the Rao's crowd welcomed him back to earth with a warm ovation. "It was just me up there, alone, flying on gut instinct - pretty much the way Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart did it."

Sitting in the cockpit of a Columbia 400 he named Inspiration - "because that's what I want to be to younger people," he said - Mr. Irving began his journey on March 23 from Opa-Locka Airport near Miami, and ended there on June 27, 96 days, 150 hours (of flight time) and 26,800 miles later.

The trip, which cost roughly a million dollars, was rejected by more than 50 different sponsors whom Mr. Irving began approaching about two and a half years ago.

"At the time, I had just a little over 600 hours of flight experience," he said. "So people thought I was both too young and too inexperienced."

But eventually, sponsors began accepting and donating money and aircraft parts.

From Florida, Mr. Irving headed to Ohio and Farmingdale, N.Y., and continued to Newfoundland, the Azores, Madrid, Rome, Athens, Cairo, and through sandstorms to get to Dubai.

Mr. Irving, who said he grew lonely and frustrated for long stretches, refueled his plane and his spirits after each landing by communicating with fans over a Web site, www.experienceaviation.org.

"People were asking me everything from how I was able to go to the bathroom while flying to what it was like to fly over ancient ruins in Greece and Italy," he said. "Their enthusiasm kept me going."

So he pointed Inspiration's nose toward India, trying to avoid thumping monsoons, which followed the course all the way to Bangkok and Hong Kong.

He reached Japan, where skies began to brighten, then turned for home, dealing with poor visibility and high, shifting winds when crossing the North Pacific en route to Anchorage, Alaska.

"I got nervous because I began to experience turbulence," he said. "I saw cloud formations I had never seen before."

He made his way to Seattle, then Denver and Houston, and Mobile, Ala. - where he stopped to meet the engineers who built his TSIO 550, 310-horsepower engine - before flying back to Florida.

When Mr. Irving was done with his main course at Rao's, he picked at a piece of cheesecake and discussed his place in history.

"It's humbling, especially in this day and age, when a lot of young black men are getting caught up in the wrong things," said Mr. Irving, who was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and grew up in Miami. "I feel blessed that I had a chance to maybe inspire kids out there, black or white, to become pilots or engineers or air traffic controllers, or to make a positive impact in any other area of life."

Mwanamaulindi,

Kama nilivyosema, mzungu ameanza juzi tu,na sayansi na falsafa amechukua kutoka kwa mwafrika,ni kweli afrika sasa hivi ina matatizo, but it was not always so, ulaya vilevile, walikuwa chini hata kushinda Afrika!

Sorry,
I made a thread on the same subject, though from a different angle. Conclusins made by this old man are not based on any scientificaly quantitative evidence but rather on social qualitative observations.

Mbona alishasema hivyo siku nyingi hapa?

The Journal of Nature, American Medical Association Journal, The Jornal on Human Genetics etc

So far, he hasn't and that renders his conclusion baseless, his theory unfounded and at best prejudicial if not an outright absurdity!!

DNA pioneer apologises over race row

James Randerson and Claire Truscott

The DNA pioneer James Watson today apologised "unreservedly" for his apparent claim that black people are less intelligent than whites.
"I am mortified about what has happened," he told a group of scientists and journalists at the launch of his new book, Avoid Boring People, at the Royal Society in London.

"I can certainly understand why people, reading those words, have reacted in the ways they have."

"To all those who have drawn the inference from my words that Africa, as a continent, is somehow genetically inferior, I can only apologise unreservedly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"That is not what I meant. More importantly from my point of view, there is no scientific basis for such a belief."
Prof Watson attracted a deluge of criticism for his comments in a Sunday Times interview, reportedly saying he was "inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa" because "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours - whereas all the testing says not really".

He was quoted as saying he hoped everyone was equal, but that "people who have to deal with black employees find this is not true".

Britain's most senior black MP, the skills minister, David Lammy, said the 79-year-old scientist's comments were "deeply offensive" and would "succeed only in providing oxygen for the BNP".

"It is a shame that a man with a record of scientific distinction should see his work overshadowed by his own irrational prejudices," Mr Lammy said.

"It is no surprise to me that the scientific community has condemned this outburst, and I think people will recognise these comments for what they are."

The London's mayor, Ken Livingstone, also condemned the comments, calling them "racist propaganda masquerading as scientific fact".

"His offensive and grossly inaccurate comments will no doubt be seized upon by extreme right groups to fuel their campaigns of hatred," he said. "Such views are not welcome in a city like London."

In his statement today, Prof Watson said science should not be afraid of tackling controversial issues.

"Science is no stranger to controversy and I am not one to shy away from tackling issues, however, difficult they might prove to be. I have had my share of controversy, as many of you know," he added.

"I have always fiercely defended the position that we should base our view of the world on the state of our knowledge, on fact, and not on what we think it should be.

"This is why I believe passionately in genetics - for it will lead us to answers to many of the big and difficult questions that have troubled people for hundreds, if not thousands, of years."

The eminent geneticist made his name as one half of science's most famous double act when he and Francis Crick worked out the now famous double helix structure for DNA - a discovery for which they won the Nobel prize in 1962.

Prof Watson's statement did not clarify what his views on the issue of race and intelligence are, but he hinted that he had been misquoted.

"I cannot understand how I could have said what I am quoted as having said," the statement said.

The professor had been due to speak at the Science museum in London tomorrow, but its directors called off the event last night after his comments were made public.

A spokesman said Prof Watson had "gone beyond the point of acceptable debate".

Some scientists have voiced anger at the museum's decision. "It's outrageous to ban someone based on newspaper reports of their views," Colin Blakemore, a professor of Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, said.

"Jim Watson is well known for being provocative and politically incorrect. But it would be a sad world if such a distinguished scientist was silenced because of his more unpalatable views."

Prof Watson has regularly courted controversy, reportedly saying that a woman should have the right to abort her child if tests were able to determine that it would be homosexual.

He has also suggested a link between skin colour and sex drive, proposing that black people have higher libidos, and claimed beauty could be genetically manufactured.

"People say it would be terrible if we made all girls pretty," he said. "I think it would be great."

Born in Chicago, he studied in the US and Denmark before moving to Cambridge University, where he met Crick while a student in 1951.

Sorry,
I made a thread on the same subject, though from a different angle. Conclusins made by this old man are not based on any scientificaly quantitative evidence but rather on social qualitative observations.

i totally agree with your observation(kichuguu)..
the observation were totally out of scientific bases..,

coming to where he(watson) actually based his comments, social problems facing africans now are complex in nature and can not be judged by such a single liner!!every generation faces different fate(as a fact)

there was the roman empire!!they thought they would rule forever!!where are they now??

there was also arabs..,king suleiman(solomon)etc etc!!who had the worlds biggest empires and could say anything bad about anyone without any doubt...where are they??

there are actually so much examples!!

the reality is history is not the same...,2000 years ago..chinese were at the peak of civilization..,better than anyone else..yet now people are questioning the quality of their products!!

its true africans are in hard times socially and everyone around is looking down on us!!BUT for sure one day history will prove them wrong!!Africans will become the better generation..,

no kingdom lasts forever(atleast thats what history says)!!

pole kwa ndugu zangu wanaojiona wamezaliwa katika wrong generation!!!hahahaaaaaaa!!thats just life!!!feelings we have now are excactly the same ones that jews have had, arabs are having and even chinese people had(for the last few centuries)
am sure no one will be alive to record the glorious generations of africans!!

its too sad for us africans that troubles that we face now have left us so deep into the troubles that it will take centuries to heal!!but am sure we will survive that!!

remember the sahara was once deep forests!!!and america was full of red indians!!

so i can say those comments were meaningless..,and considering his age(79).they shoould check him for some serious brain damage!!

Yeye kasema hivi:

The 79-year-old geneticist reopened the explosive debate about race and science in a newspaper interview in which he said Western policies towards African countries were wrongly based on an assumption that black people were as clever as their white counterparts when "testing" suggested the contrary. He claimed genes responsible for creating differences in human intelligence could be found within a decade.

Sasa inavyoonekana kuna watu wanalifanyia kazi hilo swala ktk angle ya sayansi. Tusubiri tuone.

Mambo mengine sio lazima uwe mwanasayansi kuyatambua.
