Opposition will win Zanzibar 2010!

It is a reality, almost a fact that CCM will have a massive win in general elections 2010!

Yes I have been one of the pundits criticizing CCM leadership and especially President Kikwete and the alleged Mafisadi, but I have to be realistic, is there a chance opposition can take over the Union Government? The answer is No, however, Opposition will win Zanzibar 2010!

For CCM to fall apart and loose 2010, the following must happen:

1. Opposition should unite and form one party.
2. Opposition must stop dependeing on Ruzuku as way and means to exist
3. Opposition needs new leadership and faces that are yet to be tarnished and compromised by CCM or the way Mtikila and Rostam deal
4. CCM fails to calm the unrest from CCM Visiwani on Muungano and Nchi issue
5. Watanzania to have change of heart and ignore CCM, however this is hard and it kind of brings me on specifics of why CCM will win.

CCM will win by;

1. Overhauling the arty image especially wagombea udiwani na Ubunge. There going to be a lot of new faces in 2009-2010 elections. Gone will be the old faces and hence Wananchi will be dillusional to see new faces forgeting that it is the same party. Part of this strategy is to rid of those who are a burden, however they will remain behind the scene to make sure their own people the new faces are fielded so that they can protect the chama. This means Mafisadi wataendelea kupeta!
2. Accomodating Zanzibar needs for Muungano issue and new katiba
3. A massive clean up in the government and CCM leadership, however this will be cosmetically done to ruse wananchi in believing that Chama kimejisafisha
4. CCM will not use any ufisadi deals, it will win clean hands down! Sadly we are waiting for another scandal, but these will befirst fair elections and CCM will come out on top. Problem is that Opposition is still not strong enough and is yet to sell itself to Wananchi and offer alternative means and better programs than CCM.
5. Wananchi are still having faith with CCM. CCM Propaganda machine has already started its work, the only matching forces is CUF and only in Zanzibar. CUF has strong loyalty in Pemba and is now spreading to Unguja. In the mainland, opposition is too weak to put up a fight.

For anyone looking for changes in Tanzania political spectrum they should start planning for 2015 and 2020, it will be a miracle if 2010 will be the year of change! If any, the changes will come from CCM itself and not through opposition!

The darling of George Bush and the West, si unaona Canadians walivyojiweka mkao wa kula.

Rev. Kishoka,

Mura Mutani,

You nailed it, perfectly landing in gymnastics!

Sio kumwondoa mwenyekiti. Tena mtangazeni mapema ili nchi ijue.

Kwa vigezo vipi? au hizo one off show za "list of shame" na mkataba kusainiwa London? Hao katika siasa za Bongo wanaitwa 15 minutes performers, once their 15 minutes are over u wont heard them.

Tulikuwa nao akina Mrema, Kaburu, Marando, Tambwe, Mapalala, Makaidi, Malima, Mtikila, Mtei, Bob Makani, Lipumba... the list is endless. Hao zao zimeisha I can bet 15 minutes za Slaa na Zitto mwisho Oct 2010.

Time will tell.....

Congo,

Katiba haimruhusu Zitto kugombea (Awe na miaka 40). Ila Dr. Slaa hata mimi ningependa agombee kupitia CHADEMA mwaka 2010.

Basi usijeshangaa hizo 15 minutes zako zikiendelea hadi beyond 2010.

Some of us have longer memories than you may think.

In lieu of the current Tanzanian campaign financing system, can we think of another that will avoid the temptation to steal from the public and scwandering of government funds?

Be it public or private, traditional or clean...
Are we in a position to lead our campaigns into a path that is morally just?
What choices and decisions should we make now that will make this possible then?

Suki, I think that campaign financing is like number 3 on the list of impotrant things to do, there are a number of things that have to happen, including a new constitution that reflects more accurately the multi party democracy and accountability that we want out country to achieve.

Then there's the introduction of individual political candidates, which will keep all political parties on their toes.

And then campaign finance reform. The only problem is that the powers that be a re more comfortable fishing in the muddy waters.

Specialization....

Sorry mkuu, didn't want to sound dismissive. I just wanted to point out that this is a complex issue. BUt excellent topic. Lakini swali: nani tamfunga paka kengele? Campaign fiannce reform will not happen with this parliement. They love their porkbarrels!

Sorry mkuu, didn't want to sound dismissive.
Worry out...you are terrible at sounding dismissive!

On a brighter note however, all of what you've pointed out is indeed positive input towards a ''real'' governance reform, urgently needed if most of our current problems are to be dealt with.Even so,as V.O Key pointed out,"Unless mass views have some place in the shaping of policy, all the talk about democracy is nonsense".Where am I taking this to?Back to campaigning,...you see, what the current government can do for us in terms of good governance is minute. This doesn't mean to say I am off the ''Let's put the Genie in the bottle'' squad. Most of the changes we need see are to be projected towards the next government(I would think).

Now,if both sides(doesn't matter how many in reality) are well funded during campaigning,we are then in a position to experience stronger public opinion in rival direction, equally supported and as you say ''on their toes''.Plus, isn't the ability of candidates,to speak in their own voices and being answerable to the mass for what they utter in public the essence of accountability?

Now this is a good topic, thanks Suki for bringing this up.

The first question to ask is if our campaign financing system is broken and need fixing. But even before that we need to ask if it exists and how is it supposed to be working. How is our campaign financing system?

We can answer that question by looking at the Election Law of 1984 and its amendments.

So for now I believe this could be one of the most interesting topic if one were to thinking of a more freer and fairer election system.
