Jürgen Klopp’s top ten signings at Liverpool

1. Mohamed Salah - €42m

Not only is Mo Salah unquestionably Klopp’s best ever signing but he’s also amongst the greatest in Premier League history. The Egyptian earned hero status at Anfield and departed this summer as the club’s third highest goalscorer in history with 257. Salah secured a plethora of notable records across his nine years at Anfield and is the club’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League. The winger was so instrumental to Liverpool’s success under Klopp and thoroughly deserves top spot with the €42m fee an absolute bargain.

2. Virgil van Dijk - €84.7m

Liverpool paid a world record fee to acquire Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in January 2018 and it proved to be inspired business. Klopp’s side frequently fell just short and it was widely accepted that they required a defensive leader and Van Dijk provided that. The Netherlands international developed into the best centre-back in the world and was the cornerstone of Liverpool’s success. Also finished runner up in the Ballon d’Or in 2019.

3. Alisson - €72.5m

After the addition of Van Dijk in January, Alisson provided the final piece of the puzzle the following summer. Liverpool badly needed to solve their goalkeeping problems and they signed one of the best in the world in the Brazilian. Alisson was an exceptional shot stopper and he provided a real calming influence on the defence. Made some unforgettable saves in big moments and pivotal to several title successes.

4. Andy Robertson - €9m

If this list was based purely on value for money then Andy Robertson would rival Salah for top spot. The Scotland captain’s €9m move to Anfield in 2017 is one of the biggest bargains in Premier League history. Robertson became the best left-back in the world for several seasons and such a reliable performer. Only Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Firimino played more minutes under Klopp at Liverpool than Robertson (25,202)

5. Sadio Mané - €41.2m

Sadio Mané was Klopp’s first major signing at Liverpool arriving from Southampton from €41.2m in 2016. The Senegal star was part of the Reds’ iconic attack with Firmino and Salah, which propelled them to major honours. Mane was exceptional out of possession and provided an incredible 166 goal contributions in 269 games under Klopp.

6. Fabinho - €45m

Such an underrated part of Liverpool’s success, Fabinho provided real defensive nous in central midfield. The Brazilian provided protection for the defense, which allowed the full-backs to bomb on and was so good at winning back the ball.

7. Georginio Wijnaldum - €27.5m

Georgino Wijnaldum was a relatively low-profile signing but it was such shrewd business. Liverpool didn’t really have a true superstar in their midfield under Klopp but they had such intelligent and hard-working players like Wijnaldum. Scored a brace in the famous comeback win over Barcelona in 2019, which was arguably the greatest game of Klopp’s tenure.

8. Joël Matip - Free

Like Robertson, Joël Matip would be much higher in the list based purely on fees as he was the definition of a bargain on a free. The towering defender was a brilliant partner for Van Dijk for several seasons and it’s just a shame that injuries blighted his time at Anfield as he was immense when fit.

9. Diogo Jota - €44.7m

Diogo Jota was never truly a guaranteed starter under Klopp but he regularly turned up in the biggest games to deliver. His return of 78 goal contributions in 145 games was very impressive and one of the most popular figures at Anfield.

10. Luis Diaz - €49m

Luis Díaz delivered on his price tag winning domestic honors under Klopp but was pivotal to Liverpool’s title success under Arne Slot in the season after the German’s departure. Many Liverpool fans regret his sale but making a €20m profit on the player was good business.

Dominik Szoboszlai has officially committed his long-term future to Liverpool by signing a new five-year contract, keeping him at the club until the end of June 2031. 🔴

Trent and Dominik Szoboszlai had one of the best bromances at Liverpool.

One chose to leave for Madrid in pursuit of the Ballon d'Or, only to miss the World Cup through injury and now finds himself with new competition after Real Madrid signed Denzel Dumfries.

The other stayed loyal, committed his future to Liverpool, and continues to be a key part of the club's project.

So proud of Szoboszlai and his loyalty to Liverpool. 🔴👏

Trent might turn up same as old Owen situation in Spain, very tricky. At Madrid there they don't give loads of minutes without delivering otherwise he will suffer humiliation especially from the spoiled fans they have.
At Anfield he was adored, embraced loved, he was a Scouser and might have been placed almost next after King Kenny in Liverpool greats but it's life and choices have consequences.

Truly heartbroken to post this on behalf of the Keegan family...

It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75. The former England player and manager had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments. Kevin, a double Ballon D’or winner, was a much loved husband, father and grandfather. The family would like to thank Kevin’s incredible medical team for all their support. This is a hugely difficult time and they are requesting space and privacy.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary Kevin Keegan and mourn his loss. His indomitable spirit and remarkable contribution will be forever etched in our history and his legacy will live on.

Rest in peace, Kevin. 1951-2026

[🟢] NEW: A consortium led by Amit Bhatia are in talks to purchase a minority stake in Liverpool.

The group is led by Amit Bhatia and the wider Mittal family and are in active talks with FSG.

Nothing is finalised yet, but #LFC is valued at around £4.5bn.

A consortium led by British-Indian millionaire businessman Amit Bhatia has expressed an interest in buying a minority stake in Liverpool.

Bhatia, the son-in-law of the Indian billionaire businessman Lakshmi Mittal, was director and co-owner at QPR for 18 seasons but stepped down from the board and relinquished ownership of the club on Tuesday afternoon.

In a statement, Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group told BBC Sport: "An investment consortium led, managed, and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club."

BBC Sport understands that the deal has not yet been finalised with FSG.

If the investment was to proceed, it would follow a similar deal made in 2023, when FSG sold a minority stake in the Reds to global sports investment firm Dynasty for between £82m and £164m.
