Got forward well down the Liverpool right with the ball, and spent his time without it doing well to keep Son relatively quiet. Joel Matip - 7

Continued to demonstrate his rise at Liverpool with another assured performance, showing plenty of strength at the back even if Spurs didn't really test him anywhere near as much as they would have liked. Showed great persistence to keep the ball alive in the build-up to Liverpool's second.

Virgil van Dijk - 8

Coolness personified as usual. Rarely put a foot wrong across the 90 minutes outmuscling and out-thinking the Spurs forwards when called upon. No player has now managed to complete a dribble beyond Van Dijk in any of his 50 appearances for Liverpool this season.

Andy Robertson - 8

One of few bright sparks in either camp before half-time, full of running at Kieran Trippier and coming close to scoring his first goal of the season after a rare foray inside.

Fabinho - 7

Generally held his position very well while Tottenham controlled possession, shielding his back four very well.

Georginio Wijnaldum - 6

Quiet in possession after his heroics against Barcelona last time out, but steady out of it. Hooked with half an hour to go as Liverpool looked to Milner's experience.

Jordan Henderson - 7

Solid without the ball and did relatively well getting Liverpool on the front foot going forward after half-time, having not seen enough of it before the break.

Mo Salah - 7

Unusually quiet before the break but improved after it, and could have doubled Liverpool's lead had Vertonghen not blocked his goal-bound effort not long into the second period. Not the most convincing penalty to put them in front - but they all count, and netted the second-fastest Champions League final goal in the process.

Roberto Firmino - 4

It was no surprise the Brazilian started in attack after three games out injured, as he had always been expected to recover in time for the final, but he looked well off the pace. Couldn't get his foot on the ball and feed his partners in the front three as he has done so much and was replaced 13 minutes into the second half.

Sadio Mane - 7

Drifted in and out of the game but had a telling contribution inside 30 seconds, winning a penalty when his cross was hand-balled by Sissoko - and he may well have known where he was putting the ball. Saw more of the ball after half-time.

Substitutes

Divock Origi (for Firmino, 58) - 7

His clinical finish and third Champions League goal from as many shots this season put the game beyond Spurs three minutes from time.

James Milner (for Wijnaldum, 62) - 7

Solid off the bench as Jurgen Klopp opted for experience, and was a whisker away from getting on the score sheet when his shot from the edge of the area flashed wide.
