Defensively Chelsea are very, very good indeed when at full strength, the stats don't lie that much. No team in the Premier League have shipped fewer league goals away from home this season and at home only United are better and that is only by a single goal after scoring two against us at the weekend.
Of course there is work to be done in other areas but this isn't the time for extreme knee-jerk reactions, it's the time for considered, well-planned and focused decision-making. As ever I hope the club make the right decisions, it is the management's time to get it right.
Players do their jobs in the limelight throughout the season, this is the time for others to do theirs and having been there and done that as a chief executive with a Scottish Premier League club, I know that isn't easy at all!

So for all those of you who have got in touch over the past week, imploring me to pass on your thoughts, I understand your passion and your frustration. Everyone thinks they know better than the manager when it comes to team selection, tactics and even player acquisitions. And guess what, some of you might well be right, certainly just about every Chelsea fan who has corresponded with me has struck me as considered, informed and at the very least, very well meaning.
At these times what comes across however is one word above all others, frustration at not being able to help or make your voice heard.

Real Madrid ready to pay £10m for Drogba.

Didier Drogba

Real Madrid are ready with a £10 million offer for Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
The Daily Star Sunday says Drogba is torn over remaining at Stamford Bridge or making a summer switch to Real Madrid.
Real boss Jose Mourinho wants a reunion with the hitman and is so keen to land him that the fee for Didier Drogba, even though he is now 33, could be as high as £10m.
The Ivory Coast captain is also being eyed by his old club Marseille, Tottenham and Manchester City.
But sources close to Drogba have revealed that while he is talking of a move to Spain at the end of the season, deep down he would like to stay at Chelsea.

Ashley Cole has accepted an invitation to play in a friendly in Africa at the end of the season – 10 days before England's vital Euro 2012 qualifying tie against Switzerland at Wembley.
The Chelsea left-back is set to make the 13-hour return flight to Accra in Ghana for the match on 25 May, which has been organised by his team-mate Michael Essien to raise awareness of the need for peace in Africa.
Fabio Capello, the England manager, will ask his squad to gather on 30 May to prepare for the Switzerland game but the Football Association has no jurisdiction over the players in the preceding week, which is the one that follows the end of the Premier League season.
Capello has said he made a mistake in calling his squad together on the close of the domestic campaign last May, for them to begin the World Cup final preparations right away and he is happy for them to have a week off this time.
But Cole's decision to tell Essien that he is ready to play in the Peace Game between African and Rest of the World XIs could cause consternation. On top of the travelling time, Cole needs to nurse his problematic ankle and he tends not to train fully after matches. The friendly would almost certainly be of the non-contact, exhibition variety yet it would not be hard to imagine the reaction were Cole to pick up an injury of any description.
England lead their Euro 2012 qualifying group on goal difference from Montenegro, six points clear of Switzerland and Bulgaria. Having drawn 0-0 at home with Montenegro, they must visit them in Podgorica. The Switzerland tie is considered to be one that England have to win.
Essien had hoped that John Terry would play in the Peace Game but the prospect of the Chelsea and England captain doing so appears unlikely and it was generally believed that Capello's players would not feature. It remains to be seen whether Cole does play but Essien appears to be counting him in.
Cole is rumoured to be in line to captain the Rest of the World XI, which could contain the Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda. The Africa team is set to include Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto'o of Internazionale, and Manchester City's Touré brothers, Kolo and Yaya. Kolo is currently suspended after he tested positive for a "specified substance".
"If you look at Africa, the biggest names are Samuel Eto'o, Didier Drogba and the Touré brothers," Essien said. "They have all confirmed. I am still talking to a few more. Ashley Cole is coming down and Malouda will come down as well. So the people should expect some world-class players in Ghana. They will see ex-players and current players, they are all coming down."
Essien, who is an African Union peace ambassador, said he has "spoken to Paolo Maldini and many other great players". George Weah, the former world player of the year, now 44, is expected to feature.
"We just want to raise awareness about peace in Africa and, hopefully, we can generate funds for African Union projects," Essien said. "Football is a very big thing in Africa, people love football, so it's always good to deliver the message through football. Hopefully, this game will help to bring peace in Africa because if you look at what has happened in Ivory Coast and Libya, it's not good. It's time for Africa to stand up and make peace with each other, stop the fighting, put the guns down and love each other."
Essien also confirmed that he had ended his exile from the Ghana national team. "I am available for selection against Congo in June," he said. "I want to help my country qualify for the next African Nations Cup. They have done more than well during my absence and it shows how good the squad is. The Black Stars are not a one-man team."

Ancelotti aliongeza: "Kwanza kabisa ninataka kuwapongeza mashabiki wetu.

See also how other chelsea fun's suggest towards our poor perfomance this season and way foward.

"Watching Luiz play I cannot understand why we do not use him as the midfield holding player. He is quick, comfortable on the ball and can pass a ball like only the Brazilians seem to know how. Alex should be at the back with Terry with Ivan and Ash. I am not sure why this has not been tried already.'Genius and so simple. John went on to say another couple of things that had rare insight, so I am happy to send him the prize for his efforts"

Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Carlo Ancelotti parted company with the club today (Sunday, 22 May).

The owner and board would like to thank Carlo for his contribution and achievements since taking over as manager in July 2009, which included winning the Double for the first time in the club's history.

However, this season's performances have fallen short of expectations and the club feels the time is right to make this change ahead of next season's preparations.

Carlo will always be welcome at Stamford Bridge, where he will be given the reception and respect his position in our history deserves.

Chelsea's long-term football objectives and ambitions remain unchanged and we will now be concentrating all our efforts on identifying a new manager.

There will be no further comment until that appointment is made.
