St. Francis Hospital has 371 beds and is divided into departments for Surgery, Internal Medicine, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Chronic Diseases and Intensive Care. Additionally, there are outpatients’ departments and wards for Tuberculosis, Dental Medicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry, Leprosy, Rehabilitation, an X-ray department and a laboratory, and a special laboratory for the production of infusions, something not imaginable in Europe. Outpatients are examined and treated in a special building situated in front of the hospital, with departments for eye diseases, skin diseases and HIV/AIDS.

Nairobi has 102 ICU beds! Take the total number 160 ICU beds minus the total number 58 ICU beds from the table below

That figure leads us to another discovery i.e. At 144, Dar has more ICU beds than Nairobi

93 from Muhimbili National Hospital

10 from Regency Medical center

5 from Aga Khan Hospital

9 from Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute

18 from Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (more source)

3 from Lugalo Military Hospital

6 from Shree Hindu Mandal Hospital

Both Ocean Road Cancer Institute (largest in East and central Africa) and Sali hospital have ICU beds but number not stated on their websites!
