Why the hell on earth would I compare Tandale, a midlle income estate in Dar, with a slum like kibera? Jeez!

This is a narrative we've heard since enzi za Nyerere na bado tunasikia hadi wa leo. Let me ask you a question: Was Tanzania not colonised by the same whites who colonised kenya? Why did the whites in Kenya "decide" to "build" Nairobi and couldn't do the same with Dar? What was so special about Nairobi? If it's true that Nairobi was an effort of whites, then the only answer to that is that they saw something in Kenya that they didn't see in Tanganyika. It's that simple
