The last time an opposition leader was arrested by the ruling party in a bid to prevent them from running was in 1992 and there was so much demonstrations that the arrested individuals were released (a privilege that Tanzania is yet to achieve). Mark you, they were not even the most popular candidates in the opposition. If you are 19 today, that was 14 years before you were born. In 2025, Ruto cannot even fathom arresting opposition leaders with impunity like it happens in the other 4 countries I mentioned. In short, you guys are where we were in 1982 - that is 43 years ago. We are clearly not the same in that respect. Sisi tunakuanga na tension towards election but the problem of candidates being arrested and barred from contesting is too foreign to us. Ni kama ng'ombe kutoa maziwa ya blue.
