Come on Chamoto , I know you are smarter than that… cost of oil just get passed on to importers who in turn pass it to consumers. You know how that works..it might have a negative effect but obsolete, I don’t think so. Only a third world war can create a trade havoc and that will impact all ports not just Mombasa .

Fingers crossed they keep the straight open! If not, we might see oil prices do a little dance past the $100 mark. And trust me, it won’t be a pretty sight—more like a horror movie where you’re paying $10 a gallon at the pump! Let’s hope we can avoid that sequel!

The price is $74.4 as of today, tomorrow when the market opens, it'll shoot up, I'll remind you of this in the next 20hrs.

Iran since the first Gulf war has a contingency plan for the straight. They know they can use it as a bargaining chip. Unfortunately for them , the largest naval base in the world is located next door in Bahrain ( US Navy 5th Fleet base headquarters ). It was built there purposely to protect the straight of Hormuz . So whatever Iran does , it will be just a matter of days before normalcy is restored . You don’t wanna know the kind of US naval nuclear submarines under the Persian gulf waters.

Like I said let's hope for peace, but due to the unpredictability of this war, anything can happen.

One of the major well known plans by Iran is to mine the straight making it impassable. But the US Navy has a response for that too. The Naval EOD units and Navy SEALs ( underwater demolition teams) commandos are on guard 24-7 . I wish Iran would try that plan . Basically I don’t see the crisis escalating in the Persian Gulf waters but elsewhere probably with Iran proxies like Hezbollah and the Houthis .
