Julius Nyerere International Airport, Tanzania 🇹🇿

Julius Nyerere International Airport is the international airport of Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania.

It is located in Kipawa ward of Ilala District in Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania.

The airport has flights to destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. It is named after Julius Nyerere, the nation's first president.

There are three terminals at Dar es Salaam airport.

Terminal 1 is a small terminal that handles chartered and private flights. It has an annual capacity of handling 500,000 passengers. This small terminal's operations as an International Airport ceased in 1984 after completion of Terminal II.

Terminal 2 is used for domestic and regional scheduled flights. It has a capacity of handling 1.5 million passengers. As of March 31, 2023, the terminal was set to close in June for the next two years, to make way for renovation.

Terminal 3 is the newest terminal that opened in August 2019. It is used for International flights. The terminal consists of two phases, Phase I and II. There are 58 businesses in the terminal categorized under retail, operational machines and provision of services.

The DSMGP has been developed as a multi-development partner initiative to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Port of Dar es Salaam. Areas of expertise​

Hon.Amos Wako is a former Attorney General of Kenya and the first senator for Busia County from 2013 to 2017.

He attended Kakamega School and later Alliance High School for both his O and A level. He was enrolled for a Bachelor of Science in Economics at the University of London, a Bachelor of Laws at the University College of Dar es Salaam and also a Master of Laws at the University of London.

A lawyer by profession Hon. Amos Wako served as the Attorney General of Kenya for 20 years (from 13 May 1991 to 26 August 2011). During his reign as the attorney general, Hon. Wako was an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a member of the International Commission of Jurists, Member Council of Legal Education, was a Member Council of International Bar Association. Legal Advisor to Young men Christian Association (Y.M.C.A.) and Kenya Boy Scouts Association. Member Faculty Board of Law, University of Nairobi Member, O.A.U. Committee of experts on the O.A.U. charter Review Committee and African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights.
In 1977 Wako was Awarded fellow International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and 1978 he was Honoured as a life member of Wiltshire Bar Association.

Hon. Amos Wako served in several professional organizations even holding the position of Secretary General of the African Bar Association from 1978 to 1980 and also as the first secretary general of the Inter-African Union of Lawyers. Wako is the Faculty Board’s member of Law at the University of Nairobi. From 1985 to 1992, he was a member of the UN Human Rights Committee. In 1969, Amos started working for Kaplan & Stratton and later became a Partner from 1972 to 1991 when he was appointed Attorney General. He served as chairman of LSK from 1979 to 1981. He has also held numerous positions in the regional and global bodies which dealt with constitutional and governance affairs.

He has been the Attorney General at historic and transitional period in the Kenya’s history. Some of the matters dealt with include Oversaw the transition from one party state to a multiparty democracy in December 1991 and from one to another Government through a free and fair election in which the ruling party, KANU was defeated by the opposition, NARC in December 2002. Piloted through Parliament the necessary Constitutional amendments and legislation such as providing for a multi-party democratic State and setting up of an independent Electoral Commission. Chaired National Constitutional Conferences consisting of MPs, religious leaders and also representatives of the civil society.
