Battle: Dar es Salaam vs Nairobi

Tanzania has a total of 14 cement factories (The surplus cement produced is exported in EAC and SADC)​


Tanzania has a total of 14 cement factories. Of these, seven (7) factories produce clinker and cement and seven (7) factories produce cement only. The country’s cement factories produce 8 clinker which is an important raw material for the manufacture of cement products. These factories have an installed capacity of producing 8,096,375 tonnes of clinker raw material per year.

The actual production of clinker in the country is 7,104,000 tonnes and the demand for clinker raw material in the country is 5,549,901 tonnes. Thus, there is a surplus of 1,554,099 tonnes which is sold to the East African Community (EAC) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries.

Domestic cement production in 2024 was 10,929,567.60 tonnes, while domestic demand is approximately 8,500,000 tonnes per year. Thus, there is a surplus of 2,429,567.60 tonnes which is sold in the markets of Rwanda, Malawi, Mozambique, Burundi, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia.

Cement producing and exporting industries include Dangote Industries Ltd, Tanzania Portland Cement PLC, Lake Cement Co. Ltd, Mbeya Cement Co. Ltd, and Tanga Cement PLC. The sector has provided 12,500 jobs, of which 5,220 are direct jobs and 17,280 are indirect jobs.
 

Tanzania has a total of 36 fertilizer manufacturing plants​

Tanzania has a total of 36 fertilizer factories. Of these factories, two (2) large factories are Minjingu and Itracom Fertilizer Limited, one (1) medium factory is YARA and 33 small factories
 

Tanzania has a total of four (4) glass manufacturing factories.​


Tanzania has a total of four (4) glass manufacturing plants. The plants are Kioo Ltd; Salehbhai Glass Industries Ltd; Sapphire Glass Industrial Limited; and Keda Float Glass T. Ltd. Kioo Ltd produces beverage bottles and the remaining plants produce household glass.

More than 95 percent of the raw materials used by Sapphire, Kioo Ltd and Keda to produce products are available in the country. These raw materials include dolomite, silica sand, limestone and feldspar.
 

Tanzania has a total of 13 automotive assembly plants​


Tanzania has a total of 13 vehicle assembly plants. Of these, two (2) factories assemble vehicles, namely GF Trucks and Equipment Ltd located in TAMCO Kibaha, Coast and Saturn Corporation Limited located in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam. The remaining 11 factories manufacture trailers.

The GF Truck and Equipment Ltd factory has an installed capacity of assembling 200 vehicles per month and has invested 13 billion shillings and has created 167 jobs. The Saturn Corporation Limited factory located in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam has an installed capacity of assembling 900 vehicle heads and 270 tipper trucks per month, with an investment of 64.3 billion shillings. The factory has created 250 direct jobs and 1,800 indirect jobs.

In addition, the TATA factory, whose construction is underway in the TAMCO area of Kibaha, Coast, has invested a total of 19 billion shillings. When completed, the factory expects to assemble automobiles, trucks and motorcycles. By March 2025, the construction of the factory had reached 70 percent.

200 large factories and 300 small factories in the Sino Tan Industrial Park in Kwala, Coast Region - Kukamilika 2027​


The Ministry has successfully attracted investment for the construction of the Sino Tan Industrial Park in Kwala, Coast Region, which is expected to house 200 large factories and 300 small factories once construction is complete. In addition, the investor in the project, Sino Tan, expects to complete the entire construction of the park by 2027.

The initial phase of construction has covered 500 acres out of the 2,500 acres where construction has reached 80 percent. The completion of the complex is expected to generate 100,000 direct jobs and 500,000 indirect jobs and produce goods worth 6 billion US dollars.
 

Film Studio and Multipurpose Entertainment Complex construction project - 2026​


The construction project of the Film Studio and Multipurpose Entertainment Complex worth Tsh 450,000,000,000 is one of the projects to be built under the South Korean financing program.

When this project is completed, not only will Tanzania have the opportunity to bring in foreign currency through companies that will come to carry out film and entertainment activities in the country, but it will also add value to our artists and demonstrate how Tanzania values the Arts and Entertainment Sector in generating jobs, increasing income for its stakeholders and contributing fully to the National GDP.

The planned activities include finding a consultant and conducting a feasibility study for the project, which will include drawings, construction costs, an environmental impact study and a business plan.
