BTW, Nairobi metropolitan area is bigger than Dar Metropolitan area. I confirmed. I was in Dar last 8 years ago and based on what you guys say here, i thought it had grown to tremendous size in those years. It has grown, yes, but still not to Nairobi's size

Dar is your typical African city.
- Brown buildings seemingly last painted by the white man.
- Barely any tarmac outside the main roads
- Near total lack of planning for the whole city outside the center. From above, 12th century London was more organized.
- Translating to close to zero public services (sewage, water, fire, etc... outside a select few, newer estates).
- 'Vibe zoning'.. Why use grids like those losers in Nairobi?
I mean, how the hell is a fire engine supposed to navigate these 'desirable middle-class' estates in Dar?
When
Venus Star posts about slums in Nairobi. he should know that in Nairobi we call better organized places than these 'slums'.
Yet in Bongo it stretches further than the eye can see.

Cities are built by private individuals, and are a sign of private wealth in a nation.
Like 9 of the top 10 tallest buildings constructed in Bongo-slum last 10 years have been built by government or government-adjacent body. Unlike Nairobi where it's the opposite.
Still, Dar gives that 'African city' vibe.
2 tall, shinny buildings surrounded by hundreds of yellow or cream - 2 storey eyesores last painted by Her Majesty.
Outside of Southern and Northern Africa, Nairobi is the only city that doesn't present that vibe.
