Yes it did but it corporates foreign Arabic words… the word Swahili itself is Arabic in nature… my point is, its not fully African per se ….as some Bongolalas here sometimes claim ..

Kila lugha inatohoa maneno toka lugha nyingine kiarabu ni 20% kwenye kiswahili, Mostly ni Bantu, unaufahamu hata kiswahili kina maneno yaliyotoholewa kwenye Kireno, Kiajemi, Kihindi, Kiingereza, kijerumani.
KISWAHILI NI KIBANTU FULL STOP. Unless hujui hata lugha ni nini?
Kutohoa maneno hakufanyi iwe lugha nyingine, nionyeshe lugha ambayo haijawahi tohoa maneno kwa lugha nyingine.

Zaidi ya asilimia 70 ya lugha ya kiswahili ni misamiati ya kibantu.
