2. Kenyan National Rosemary Mukami Kariuki Appointed World Bank Country Manager for Zimbabwe

R. Mukami Kariuki is Country Manager for Zimbabwe. She was previously a Lead Specialist for Water Supply and Sanitation in Sub-Saharan Africa, working largely in Southern Africa; Practice Manager for Urban Development for Sub-Saharan Africa; and Sector Manager for Urban and Water in East and Southern Africa. She has also been a Global Lead for Urban Development and Poverty; Sector Lead for Tanzania, Burundi, and Uganda; and Program Coordinator for Local Government in the Philippines.
A regional and urban planner by training, Kariuki has more than 20 years’ experience in development planning, local government and decentralization, infrastructure development, water supply and sanitation, climate change and disaster risk management. She has written or co-authored papers, articles, newsletters and blogs, including the World Bank’s Water Sector Strategy, 2003; the World Bank strategy, “Harnessing Urbanization to end Poverty and Boost Prosperity in Africa: An Action Agenda for Transformation;” “Local Private Providers of Water and Energy Services;” and “Water for the Urban Poor: Water Markets, Household Demand, and Service Preferences in Kenya.”

3. Kenyan National Maria Mulindi Appointed AFDB Chief of Staff

The African Development Bank (AFDB) has announced the appointment of Maria Mulindi as the Chief of Staff to the President and Director of Cabinet with effect from April 1, 2017. She joins the Senior Management Team of the Bank.
Maria Mulindi, a Kenyan national, has extensive experience as an Executive Advisor and over 20 years of managing development projects, leading dialogue and engagement with African Civil Society Organizations.
Until her new appointment, Mulindi worked as the Senior Advisor to the President of the African Development Bank on Engagement with Civil Society and Community based organizations. In this role, she was responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Bank’s Framework for enhanced engagement with the civil society. She also supported several strategic initiatives within the President’s Cabinet.
She holds a Masters Degree in Gender and Development from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Brunel University, U.K.
