Infact the county idea was an input by Kenyans in the USA diaspora when the constitution panel visited…. The idea was to empower the devolution aspect as opposed to the previous provincial administration units like districts which evolved power around the office of the presidency…. Kama nyinyi…. So the county can now choose their own President ( Governor) who’s answerable to the county as opposed to a district commissioner who only sings to the tune of the state house…kama nyinyi…. The provincial administration was scrapped but later mercifully retained as a government service entity though with limited powers… before Chiefs , DOs, DCs and PCs were the kings and queens of the masses … their word was law… no more.. and that’s why our democracy is more advanced than your CCM one party dictatorship…🤣🤣🤣

The county goverment in Kenya gets money constitutionally no matter the political or ideological stand of the governer in power or the people in that county. This ensures seemless development no matter what

Don’t blame the model… it’s alright…..but the issue is management of devolved finance and resources… the problem in Kenya is not money…we even have a strong middle class… but corruption…I will keep my mouth shut if you yell from the roof top… its a monster that has held us back in ways you cannot imagine…😡😡😡

We tried that model in 80s, we used to call in kiswahili "Madaraka mikoani". We failed terrible due to the following reasons
1)The lower you go down of administrative leader, the less number of skilled labour you get, that means more mistakes and high chances of government wastege.

2)More new offices, high wage bills, more ghost workers, more corruption.

3)More disunity in the country, tribalism, Nepotism, regionalism, and total chaos.

You were supposed to come to Tanzania before, to identify were we failed because Kenya and Tanzania had many similarities than Kenya and USA. Now you are complaining "Punda amechoka mzigo".

Why then some counties are shutting down do you know why?
Let me tell you the counties receive money from the Central treasury which technically is under the Central government with President as the head so Governors indirectly lick The president ass to get funds to run the counties.
