SA yuko vizuri kwa kuexport bidhaa tofauti tofauti ikiwemo finished products including magari. SA anaexport kila kitu kuanzia sabuni hadi magari maana SA ana big car manufacturing industry. Nigeria upande mwingine anaexport bidhaa chache sana crude oil, , gas, coal na zingine chache halafu most of them ni raw materials. Lakini licha ya Nigeria kuexport raw materials bado anapokea mapato mengi (more export revenue) than South Africa. South Africa is a smaller more industrialized economy while Nigeria is a bigger more primitive economy. Just because Nigeria's ecomomy is primitive and less industrialized doesn't mean it is not bigger than SA. SA is the most industrialized economy in Africa but Nigeria is the biggest economy even though it is less industrialized and exports alot of raw materials.
Nigeria ina export revenue ya approximately $50 billion. Kenya kwa upande mwingine tunaexport approximately $7 billion worth ofgoods and services. Yaani kwenye export revenue, Kenya haiwezi kukaa katika meza moja na Nigeria maana hutupo ligi moja. Tanzania pia haiwezi kukaa katika meza moja na Nigeria kwa sababu Tanzania mnaexport revenue worth less than $10 billion kama sijakosea. Huwezi kulinganisha export revenue ya Nigeria na export revenue ya nchi zetu ndogo za East Africa. Hata ukichanganya export revenue ya Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi na Rwanda bado hatutafikia nusu ya export revenue ya Nigeria. Yaani economy yao ndio ni primitive kama ulivyosema lakini ni kubwa, hio hatuwezi kupinga.

Sio watalii tu hata baadhi yetu hatupendi hii hali ya sasa, njia ile ya kutoka nbc bank hadi feli kulikuwa safi na kunavutia sasa hivi kumekuwa hovyo hovyo. Kariakoo pia wamepaharibu kama unavyosema sasa hivi wenye maduka wanawapa wamachinga wawauzie na hakupitiki njia zote wamejaa wao tu.

Siasa imeingia kwenye utumiaji wa yale masoko, karume ilibidi pabomolewe ili waende machinga complex kwasabu ni pakubwa kuliko karume, ni maeneo hayohayo na kunaweza kuingia wafanyabiashara wengi zaidi. Kisutu pia lile soko sitoshangaa kama hawatolitumia wakati mara ya kwanza walikuwa maeneo hayohayo na lile linabeba wote wamachinga na wauza mazao.

Dar es Salaam. The government of Tanzania has secured a total of Sh570.6 billion in loans from World Bank for the construction of phases 3 and 4 of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), a senior official revealed yesterday.

Phase Three of the BRT project involves construction of infrastructure projects across the 23.6-kilometre stretch of Nyerere Road from Gongo la Mboto to City Centre and parts of Uhuru Road from Tazara to Kariakoo Gerezani.

Meanwhile, phase 4 involves construction of a 16.1-kilometre stretch along Bagamoyo and Sam Nujoma roads. Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit Agency (Dart) chief executive officer Ronald Lwakatare told The Citizen that they have received $148.1 million for phase 3 and $99.9 million for phase 4.

“The funds secured would facilitate the actual construction of BRT infrastructure while the government will be responsible for compensating the people who will be affected by the project,” he said.

He said after the compensations, the government would then announce tenders for the actual construction process to start.

He said though the actual cost of construction is determined depending on the received bids, the amount to be spent on the project would remain within the same range. This was because the funds were in foreign currency.


Earlier last year, Dart said it had disbursed Sh5.7 billion to 77 Dar es Salaam residents to pave the way for the construction of the 23.6 kilometre stretch of the BRT phase 3 project.

Dart said the government had completed the compensation proc- ess but that only Sh124.1 million had not yet been paid to those who would be affected.

Nchi za Afrika huwa hazina uwezo wa kutosha wa kucalculate Gdp accurately. Huwa tunakosa kuculculate kila kitu na hata unakuta kwamba kuna sectors nzima mpya ambazo hazijakuwa calculated.
The main reason ya kufanya kitu kinachoitwa "rebasing the Gdp" ni kucalculate sectors mpya za uchumi ambazo hazikuwa zimejumuishwa hapo mbeleni. Wacha nikupe mfano mzuri. Ict industry haikuwepo hapa Africa in the 1980s au hata early 1990s. Computers zilianza kuwasili Africa pengine 1990s lakini hata hivyo universities na ofisi za kiserikali chache ndio zilikuwa na kompyuta lakini Mtanzania au Mkenya wa kawaida hawakuwa na kompyuta. So Ict industry haikuwa calculated in the Gdp in the 1990s. Tulipofika miaka ya 2,000s kompyuta zikaanza kuwa imported hapa Afrika kwa wingi na hata mtu mmoja mmoja akaanza kumiliki tarakilishi. Makampuni, mashule na watu binafsi wakaanza kumiliki tarakilishi. Waafrika wakaanza kujifunza kucode softwares na kuanza kuprovide services za Ict. Yaani industry mpya kabisa ikazaliwa hapa Africa so ikabidi nchi nyingi za kiafrika zirebase Gdp ili kuinclude ICT sector. Amini usiamini kuna nchi za kiafrika zimekaa hata miaka ishirini au thelathini bila kurebase Gdp. So unakuta nchi hio ina ICT sector kubwa kwenye ground lakini kwenye vitabu hawajainclude hio ICT sector. Sababu kuu huwa ni kukosa pesa ya kurebase Gdp au nchi pengine bado wanapigana kwa mfano Somalia au South Sudan so hawana time ya kurebase Gdp na kuinclude sectors mpya. Sector nyingine ambayo ilikuwa weak kabla ya mwaka wa 2,000 lakini ikawa strong ni Telecommunication sector. Telecomm sector ya Africa in the 1990s ilikuwa ndogo na ilikuwa weak sana. Ilikuwa govt owned monopolies zinazotoa services ya simu ya fixed line. Matajiri tu ndio walikuwa na simu ndani ya nyumba, sisi wengine tulikuwa tunakwenda nje kwenye simu za booth zilizowekwa nje na kupiga simu. Baada ya mwaka wa 2,000 simu za mikononi yaani simu ya rununu zikaanza kutinga hapa Africa, sasa ikawa rahisi kwa mtu mmoja mmoja kununua simu, sector ya telecomms ikaanza kukua kubwa, baadaye sasa hivi imefika wakati hata watoto wa shule ya chekechea pia wana simu ya rununu wanacheza game nazo. Yaani industry ya telecomm imekuwa kubwa hadi kampuni kubwa kabisa Africa Mashariki ni telecomm company kwa jina ya Safaricom, telecomm industry imekuwa kubwa hadi imevumbua njia mpya ya kutuma pesa person to person yaani M-pesa. So industry hii ni kubwa lakini unakuta kuna baadhi ya nchi hazijarebase Gdp yao ili kupima tena ukubwa wa sector maana sector hii imekuwa kwa haraka sana na usipoipima regularly basi utafanya makosa kwenye kupima Gdp.
Example nyingine ni movie industry in Nigeria. Baada ya mwaka wa 2,000 movie industry in Nigeria ilikuwa kwa kasi hadi ikawa sector kivyake. Ikabidi iwekwe kwenye Gdp kama sector kivyake maana inaajiri tens of thousands of Nigerian actors, producers, e.t.c. So kama Nigeria wangekosa kucalculate value ya hii industry mpya ya movies basi wange-underestimate Gdp yao.
Mwisho kabisa, wacha nitoe mfano wa Tanzania na Kenya. Nchi zetu ni agricultural in nature so unakuta most of the people are farmers. Lakini serikali zetu hazicalculate accurately kiwango cha chakula kilichozalishwa. Kwa mfano unakuta serikali ya Tanzania inasema wacha nitumie mfano kwamba eti Tanzania inazalisha 4 million bags of maize lakini kumbe serikali yenu ndio haijapima vizuri maana haijaenda kila mahali kuhesabu. Unakuta kwamba kiuhalisia kwenye ground, Tanzania inazalisha 8 million bags of maize. Unaona sasa hapo serikali imehesabu tu nusu ya idadi ya mahindi mnayozalisha kwa mwaka! Sasa Gdp yenu itakuwa ndogo ilhali inastahili kuwa kubwa. Africa tunazalisha chakula kwa wingi ila serikali haihesabu accurately kiwango gani cha chakula kimezalishwa na value ya hio chakula. Africa ina industries za jua kali nyingi zinazounda jembe, wheelarrows, milango ya chuma, viti vya chuma, vitanda, meza na kadhalika ila serikali haizungumzi na hawa wamachinga au watu wa jua kali ili kujua ni idadi ngapi za bidhaa hizi zimeundwa katika mwaka fulani. Wamachinga na watu wa juakali nao pia hawataki kuzungumza na serikali maana hawataki kulipa ushuru maana wanajua wakiambia serikali "mwaka jana niliunda milango elfu moja" serikali itamuuliza na ulilipa ushuru wa pesa ngapi? Kimsingi ni kuwa Africa tunaunda bidhaa nyingi ambazo serikali zetu zinashindwa kucalculate katika Gdp aidha kwa sababu hawana pesa ya kutosha ya kufanya survey au kwa sababu wanapuuza sector ya jua kali kwamba haizalishi bidhaa nyingi lakini sector ya jua kali ndio inazalisha bidhaa nyingi hata kushinda some formal sectors. Hapa Kenya vitanda tunavyolalia karibu vyote vimeundwa na seremala wa mitaani. Hawa seremala wanaunda vitanda vingi tu ila wengi wa hawa seremala hawaambii serikali waneunda vitanda vingapi ili wasitozwe ushuru na serikali pia haitaki kujua.
