Wakati nasoma nje nilikuwa nawaambia marafiki zangu wa kizungu kuwa they can pop in whenever they want. Still wakawa wananitaarifu kabla ya kuja. Nikawakoromea kuwa they don't need to do that. They can come over anytime they want. Kama nipo nitawafungulia mlango. Kama sipo no body will open the door for them though I might be in next door and willing to come over and open the door for them.
Walishangaa sana but told them huyo ni utamaduni wa jamii ninayotoka kwamba we value community rights more than individual rights. Initially, they found it very odd, lakini nilipowazoesha waliupenda huu utamaduni. So, wakiboreka kwao, they would come over hata kama nipo busy, they would do their own things and leave me alone till I finish.
Lakini Bongo maisha ya siku hizi yamebadilika sana. People are more individualistic than before on the basis that maisha yamekuwa magumu, privacy, kuwa busy nk. Lakini lini maisha Bongo yalishawahi kuwa rahisi? Na tunakoelekea they never be easy. Nina wasiwasi kama mambo yataendelea hivi, nasi tutakuwa tunapeleka wazazi wetu care homes wakatunzwe huko kwa sababu hizo hizo.
