Nimesoma habari kuwa Vodacom wamejitolea tena kudhamini mashindano ya urembo kwa mwaka huu na wametenga Shs; milioni 600 kwa ajili ya mashindano hayo ya kuonesha jinsi gani kina dada zetu wamejaliwa kwa kila hali ili hatimaye tuwe na binti mrembo kuliko wote walioshindana.

Sasa tulikuwa tunazungumzia mambo ya uchafu on the other thread na huko nyuma tuliwahi kuzungumzia ushindi wa Taifa Stars dhidi ya Burkinabe na watu wakachangiana Shs milioni 400 na upuuzi!

Sasa nilitaka kuhoji mambo mengi lakini hivi ni njia ipi ambayo Vodacom ingeweza kujitangaza kama kuwekeza hizo milioni 600 kwenye kampeni za Usafi kama vile "Safisha Tanzania na Vodacom"; "Kampeni ya Kusafisha Jijina Vodacom"

Tuna vipaumbele? Sekta binafsi na serikali na wananchi? Tunawezaje kuchagua vipaumbele vya Taifa...

At the end of the day this is about marketing and sales.

Kuna psychology ya branding inatumika hapo, Voda waki sponsor urembo brand yao inakuwa automatically associated na uzuri, kuwa hip, kuwa cool, kuwa modern.

Michezo pia, kuwa tough, kuwa popular na hata kuwa victoriuos and at least resilient.

Kusafisha mji? Mitaro, uchafu, nzi na uchafu wote.nani anataka hilo.

Marketing is not that altruistic and prudent, if they can poison you to sell they will you know.

Nadhani kwa kuwa RA kachafuka na mdau mwenzake ni dhahiri kwamba wako wachafu kaa mitaro na makapi wangalianzia huko pia wangaliweza kujitangaza zaidi maana mwisho wa siku walengwa ni ni Watanzania so bora wadhamini mambo ambayo hayafikiriwi

...at the end of the day,its all about profit na nani kawaambia vodacom wako pale kufanya charity work,wako responsible to there shareholder na kama tax wanalipa na ajira wanatoa thats enough,acha waweke advertising machine yao kwenye urembo maana ndio panapolipa,in economics its all good maana money spent,hiyo miji michafu imekosa hizo 600m lakini kumbuka waliopata ni sector ya urembo which is part of our total economy!

mafuru Atakutolea siasa nyingi. Sana sana unajua hii ni kwa sababu hata viongozi wetu wamekaa sana kimashindano shindano, kiulimbende ulimbwende, lakini yote hayo ni katika kuficha wanayoyafanya. Wanaacha watanzania wakishangilia kwenye ulimbwende, na michezo wakati wao wakiFanya UFISADi.

Hizo zote nafikiri ziko katika strategy za makampuni kama VodaCom(TZ) ambayo kwa Tanzania imekamatwa na MAFISADI.

Tatizo wala si Vodacom, ni sisi Watanzania wenyewe.

Kama nchi ina muamko wa kisiasa na elimu Vodacom watajua tu na wataleta hayo mambo ya researches.Lakini sasa hivi wanaona watu wanaokuwa katika income bracket wanayoityaka wako zaidi katika urembo na michezo.

Socially responsible marketing is a very hot idea right now na kama kweli kuna market hawawezi ku i ignore.Tatizo sisi tunataka Vodacom ifanye kazi ya serikali kuwahimiza watu kuhusu elimu na usafi, hawawezi kufanya hivyo kama alivyosema best hapo juu kwa sababu hii si charity work au kazi ya serikali.

Hata unapomuona Reginald Mengi anapanda miti au kuhimiza vita dhidi ya ukimwi usifikiri anafanya charity work, mahesabu kibao katika biashara hata unapogawa una invest pia katika ioyo ya watu wakuone mzalendo na wazidi kununua bidhaa zako wakijifariji part inaenda kwenye mazingira.

Sasa Vodacom tumeshindwa kuwabana wenyewe, hata mimi ningekuwa marketing manager nimepewa bottom line halafu watu wa Chuo Kikuu/ Wizara ya Elimu hawaleti proposals ila watu wa Miss Tanzania wanajaa kila siku ningekuwa na wakati mgumu kuwapa watu wa Chuo Kikuu au Jiji priority.

Mwanakijiji nani alikuambia tatizo la uchafu kwenye miji yetu ni hela? Mbona hata hao wanaoingoza hiyo miji hawajui kama ni michafu? Uchafu huko kwenye vichwa vya viongozi wetu na ndio tunatakiwa kuuondoa huko kwanza kabla ya kuanza kuisafisha hiyo miji. Otherwise nawaunga mkono Vodacom!

Celtel pledges continued sponsorship of best students

Mobile phone service provider Celtel has pledged to continue sponsoring best performing Form Six students to pursue higher education in the country.

Celtel corporate and social responsibilities manager Tunu Kavishe made the pledge at a luncheon held in Dar es Salaam recently.

The luncheon aimed at exchanging views with students sponsored by the company who are currently studying in different Universities in the country.

The company is currently sponsoring 23 students in various institutions of higher learning in the country.

``Celtel is aware that investing in education is an important contribution to the society because in the process competent manpower is created which is vital in the development of the national economy. It is on this basis that Celtel will continue sponsoring best performers in various academic disciplines education is a key to development,`` said Kavishe.

She advised students sponsored by the company and the government to work hard and ensure they pass their exams and come out of the institutions with requisite expertise and competencies that would contribute to the country`s development.

Kavishe said student sponsorship was a component of the company`s `Build our Nation` programme established in 2004 for the purpose of promoting education in the society.

Under the programme, about 400 schools in the country have already received donations while others were given computers. Celtel has spent nearly 500m/- on community-based activities under the programme.

In order to promote talents, she said Celtel was currently sponsoring an inter-university quiz competition under its Celtel Africa Challenge project. The programme is aired by ITV in Tanzania every Sunday.

Higher education institutions in the country which participate in the competition include the University of Dar es Salaam, Mzumbe University, Hubert Kairuki Memorial University and St. Augustive University of Tanzania (SAUT).

Makodi na maushuru kedekede tunayolipa yanatosha kusafisha miji yetu, mbona miaka ya nyuma kulikuwa hamna Vodacom wala TIGO na jiji lilikuwa linang'ara? Viongozi wetu hawalioni suala la usafi kama priority. Makampuni yanapeleka pesa zao kwenye masuala ambayo kuna interest za wengi and Im afraid Usafi siyo moja ya mambo hayo.

Kama nchi ina muamko wa kisiasa na elimu Vodacom watajua tu na wataleta hayo mambo ya researches.Lakini sasa hivi wanaona watu wanaokuwa katika income bracket wanayoityaka wako zaidi katika urembo na michezo.

Hasa hasa target ilikuwa katika makampuni ya madini yanayokuwa yanawaachia mashimo.

Sasa wao watakuwa wanafanya biashara au wanaongoza miji? Kumbuka michango yote ya makampuni ya biashara ni kwenye Brand Awareness na Brand value.

Kwa kutumia mashindano ya Urembo au Timu ya Taifa, brand yao inatangazwa nchi nzima na kuendelea. Kwa usafi, brand inabaki local.

warembo wengi hawana kazi, kupitia fani ya urembo wanaweza kujikimu na maisha hivyo kutojiingiza katika shughuli zingine chafu ambazo zinaweza hata kuhatarisha maisha yao na ya wengi.

Inapotokea kampuni ya kudhamini fani ya urembo ni vema kutoibeza kwani wanawezesha wengine ambao wanaona urembo ni fani yao.

Capitalistic businesses main objective is to make profit for shareholders. All this other business about giving back to the community must be enforced, they will not hand it to you on a silver plate, you have to take it.

Ninachosema ni kuwa, kama Vodacom hawatoi kwa worthy causes kwa sababu hatuwabani huwezi kuwalaumu Vodacom, laumu sisi ambao hatuwabani.

Businesses will always try to get away with what they can, pay as little taxes as possible and maximize profit.Sielewi tunailaumu vipi kampuni ya kigeni inayofanya kazi kwetu chini ya sheria na statutes zetu, enforce the law and lobby for a more socially responsible and meaningful contribution.
