...The fact is, Sumaye, who had been Kikwetes unsuccessful rival contender for the CCM investiture for the 2005 presidential election, could try his chance again in 2010. He has not yet publicly announced his decision, but sources inside the CCM suggest that certain high-ranking officials ousted by Kikwete or still in their posts but discontent with the Presidents anti-corruption campaign, do not want to see Kikwete obtain a second mandate. In that case, Sumaye could become a replacement candidate for this wing of the CCM. Especially if Kikwetes backers and financers, such as Rostam Aziz, who had been subject to attacks in Parliament for their supposed links with a company implicated in a shady affair, decide to drop the outgoing President for the 2010 election.
