Man of the Match - Roberto Firmino
Firmino has started the season in brilliant form and he deserved his goal at the end. By that point, he had already set up Mane for the goal that doubled the lead and he was the man who played the pass through to Salah in the build-up to his own third goal. With that strike, Firmino became the first Brazilian player to score 50 Premier League goals.

Comfortable for the Spaniard who was forced into action early doors from Chris Wood. Definitely settling in well after being thrown in at the deep end.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 8

It may have gone down as a Chris Wood own goal in the end, but Alexander-Arnold’s inswinging deliveries were a real threat throughout the first half.

Won a few key duels against his tricky marker Dwight McNeil.

Was never going to be given a moment’s peace against Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood.

“Calm as you like,” bellowed out from the away end and the travelling faithful were spot on.

Many expected Joe Gomez to take his place alongside Van Dijk at the turn of the new season, but Matip is more than proving he deserves to be a starter.

A quiet afternoon from the usually relentless left-back. Burnley defended deep which prohibited the Scot from bombing forward, still an outlet.

His bandy legs were just about everywhere, nipping in before the opposition and retaining the ball. Made his presence count from the get-go.

Jordan Henderson - 7
The kind of experienced display that Liverpool are going to need over the course of 38 games. Took a nasty whack on the thigh and was forced off on the 70 minute mark.

Gini Wijnaldum - 8
He might not receive any of the headlines, but quietly he was very effective in breaking up play and turning defence into attack.

Mohamed Salah - 7
A quiet afternoon on the basis of his high standards. Rattled the post in the first half with a clever, early effort. Did provide the assist for Firmino.

Sadio Mane - 8
Somehow improving week on week. Lovely finish for his goal, showing confidence by deciding to hit it first time. Constant threat, superb close control.

Roberto Firmino - 9 (MOM)
Another exceptional display from the Brazilian who worked tirelessly to pull the Burnley backline out of joint. Perfectly timed and weighted pass to set up Mane for the second. His efforts were rewarded with a fine goal from outside the box ten minutes from time.

Mane furious...
But despite the convincing victory, there was a sour ending to proceedings after Sadio Mane vented his frustration after being subbed.

He was not unhappy with Jurgen Klopp though. Minutes prior to being replaced, Mohamed Salah had a shot when Mane was standing in acres of space.

That left the Senegal international furious, as it wasn’t the first during the match that Salah had opted to shoot.

as he walked off the field, he was shouting furiously, waving his thumb backwards towards the pitch hinting it was Salah he was angry with.

Mane then took his place on the bench and had to be calmed down by James Milner and Joe Gomez
