LIVERPOOL AND KLOPP, a Marriage made in heaven
By S.Ahmed kd,,
Liverpool fans have been on the wrong receiving end of opposition?s fans jibes and digs. Rival supporters taunt and shove us with tedious and stingy clich?s. ??Liverpool are living their past?? , ??kopites are deluded to think their team belongs to elites?? are such well-worn scripts we have been rudely served by rivals. To them, we are feeding off the relic
Our epl barren spell sway them to say that it?s wishful thinking for liverpool to even think of a tittle, it?s a far fetched likelihood. Financially outmuscled by our rivals, we stand no chance to defy the odds. That?s what they say, but who are liverpool the fans and liverpool the club?
Liverpool the fans and liverpool the club have always been at their best when they aggressively bully the naysayers and the deriders, kopites passion and defiant die hard spirit should be the ruling emotion not the one of resignation and surrendering
We may had wrong owners and managers in the past, signed wrong players but that doesn?t mean we are forever dead and buried, even if we are dead, there is no ruling out the rising from the dead. We are not going to accept our fate without straining and busting our guts
Even our own legends undermine us and claim we are no longer big club and wont match the elites, whilst their claims might have a merit and well placed justifications to back them, they are shrugging off what aspirations could do for a football club especially the one that had its glittering successes driven by fans emotions. Yes we haven?t won the epl tittle for 25 years and we haven?t met the modern game barometer of being consistent ucl side, we are outmuscled financially by our rivals, yes these are facts, but we can always punch above our weights, that?s what typifies liverpool a club.
Liverpool success over decades were not boiled down to quality of our teams, the fans passion played decisive role for our success. We never won with teams of super stars, we did it with players who absorbed the fans emotions and translated them in their play. Despite having extraordinary successes and being one of the most decorated clubs in the world, Liverpool never boasted of downright elite players. Many of our greatest players were never thought of highly outside Liverpool. But what made others envious of us, was the connection between the team and fans on the pitch. No team in the world had that.
When liverpool went to ucl knockout stages with the likes of nunez, traore, biscan, josemi, baros and pongole, who had them down as tittle contenders among elite clubs? the answer is no one beyond the outrageously optimistic, but we upset the odd, we defied the given and won the tittle thanks to our resilience and emotions. It?s emotion that won us that tittle. It wasn?t the squad strength.
Pundits and fans alike never saw the 2013/14 tittle surge coming, and after embarrassing loss to hull in December that year, it was against all the odds for Liverpool to even be in top 4, let alone taking the epl fight down the wire. That team forgot the facts, spurned the finance and put history one side, they were on the brink of blazing glory. it was emotions driving the team. Players were playing with pride, they could run through the brick wall for the team.
It is no coincidence that our most successful spells in last decade were derived by teams that had passion in their play. It was passion that propelled Liverpool to the pinnacle of European football from 2005-2009.When we lost it through departure of players and manager,Liverpool were gradually stripped off their identity.Anfield was morphed into apathetic and dispirited place, so much for the fans rattling cheers in the stadium, it was replaced by gloom. We fell from the grace.
More than anything,Liverpool needed a man to restore club?s emotion and fight. Someone who could rally the troop to go to a war and pull off a rampage killing. they needed to believe that they could always go extra mile and stop at nothing. They needed someone who would reinvigorate and bolster the connection between fans and players, and In Klopp, they are married themselves to that man who will do just that. He did it before with Mainz and Dortmund and it is very much in his ability to do it here. His passionate approach is highly infectious, it will induce to his players and to fans also who need to believe again.
