Q. How was it when Guardiola converted you into a midfielder?
We didn’t talk too much ... By then, I played as a winger or a fake 9. But I started to put myself in the center, maybe because my qualities were better reflected in that part of the field.
Q. Were you not afraid about the change?
I really enjoyed that position. It was not very difficult, I liked it because I played a lot of football, we tried to play a lot, high ball game, which I felt comfortable.
Q. Do you enjoy it with more responsibilities?
"I like making football more than finishing it. That's why I'm not selfish when it comes to scoring goals. I know the importance of being supportive in my game because that was how Pep and all the coaches transmitted it to me."
Q. Can a selfish midfielder be a good midfielder?
Perhaps in another system where double pivot is not so important, but with the 4-3-3 that we play, it's not possible. But come on, I can't be very selfish.
Q. When do you feel satisfied at the end of a game?
When I haven’t lost any ball. I’m a very demanding player and I always have all the moves on my head and I keep on reviewing them to improve on them.
Q. How do you think this season will be?
"This season will be tough like always. In the League the rivals will be Real Madrid and Atlético, who has reinforced their team. We are have very good dynamic and we have brought players that make us all the more complete.
Q. Will Madrid suffer without Cristiano Ronaldo?
“I hope so, but I know their coach and I’m sure they will grow as a team”
Q. Piqué says that you are the best in the world at first touch. What do you think?
"Not bad, isn't it? It's is very difficult to play at the first touch"
Q. Do you think you play a lot?
"Too much. My head is always working. I am like that in my life, I am very heavy with everything. I like to have everything under control and in order"
Q. Do you have time for all that?
I’m like this. I’m very awkward.
Q. In the defensive phase, however, you’re the one who exceeds the pressure of the opponent. Isn’t it strange that they cover you?
"I try it! The problem is when I get someone stuck and I do not touch the ball either. But deep down,they put someone close to you. I have stuck on my mind the concept of pressure after loosing a ball. It is so important."
Q. When you have the ball the first player you look for is Messi.
"I raise my head and I look for Messi. To have him in the team solves almost everything because he's always well balanced and scores goals. Our game has to go through him, it's logical. It isn’t Messi-Dependence, it's to be smart and take advantage of the best in the world"
Q. Iniesta has a very good link with Leo. Will he be missed?
"Sure. But not only at the football level, but also in the dressing room because like Puyol, Xavi and Valdés, he was a captain, a leader.
