Early signs of willingness to trade from either side, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
Chelsea are prepared to offer €50m plus Michy Batshuayi to Roma in order to seal the transfers of Emerson Palmieri and Edin Dzeko, reports Di Marzio. Roma are prepared to let the duo leave this month and Antonio Conte is desperate to sign a full-back and a striker. Conte wants a new frontman to fill the void of losing Batshuayi and has been chasing a new full-back since last summer.

Chelsea failed in multiple attempts to sign Juventus star Alex Sandro, but Conte has now identified Palmieri as a suitable alternative. Sky Italia claim Conte wants the double deal finalised as a soon as possible and is happy to allow Batshuayi join the Italians on a loan deal. Dzeko has plenty of experience of the Premier League having won the title twice with Manchester City and is exactly the type of towering, target man Conte has been searching for.

Conte is desperate for reinforcements this window, with Chelsea continually suffering this season due to a small squad. Batshuayi wants a loan move for the remainder of the season so as to boost his World Cup chances by playing more often.

FIFA accuse Chelsea of breaking the rules on the signing of 25 foreign minors

13 hours ago Guardian

The number of cases could rise, with the matter now in the hands of the governing body's disciplinary committee, which has the power to impose sanctions – chief among them a ban on transfers. FIFA announced last September that it was looking into alleged breaches at Chelsea when it came to the recruitment of youth players from overseas .

The initial investigation into Chelsea was carried out by the compliance unit of FIFA's Transfer Matching System (TMS) and it is believed it was first alerted by the case of Bertrand Traore, the Burkina Faso forward. Clubs are not permitted to sign players under the age of 18 from other countriesunless their parents have emigrated for reasons not connected to football or both the player and club are based within 50km of a national border.

TMS flagged a total of 25 player cases in which it thought Chelsea may have transgressed and it passed its findings to the disciplinary committee, which is searching for further examples in a forensic look at the club's academy. It is within its remit to discard any of the original 25 cases. The disciplinary committee can examine any incoming transfer over a period of 10 years.

It has requested information from Chelsea and is in contact with the Football Association. It wants the FA to provide facts and figures for the 25 players – and possibly others – such as the registration details and the matches in which they have played. The disciplinary committee's investigation is at an early stage but it is expected to develop quickly over the coming months. When it has been completed it will submit its evidence to an independent panel within the disciplinary committee, who will reach a verdict.

Chelsea's net spend has substantially fallen in last 2 seasons to £21m annual average, compared to £65m for 2011-15. Gross spend has increased from £103m to £112m, but sales have risen from £38m to £91m. There was £213m spending in the summer (Morata, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Rudiger).

The reason why VAR referee Mike Jones made the wrong Willian decision

26 minutes ago Daily Mail

He lacked footage which is shocking, to say the least

The video referee who failed to overturn the key decisions in Chelsea's controversial FA Cup tie did not get to see the super-slow-motion replay that viewers at home were shown, it can be revealed.

Chelsea forward Willian should have been awarded a penalty after being tripped by Norwich's Timm Klose in Wednesday's third-round replay but was instead booked by referee Graham Scott for diving. Those watching on the BBC saw a super-slow-motion replay that showed Klose made contact with Willian.

But video referee Mike Jones, who watched the incident more than 10 times on his monitors at Stockley Park in west London, did not have access to those pictures so could not correct the decision.

The reason Chelsea were not in for Sanchez & Vidal

Highly-reputable Chilean journalist Mark Cadrenas knows

Although Antonio Conte has repeatedly expressed his admiration for Vidal whom he coached at Juventus, as well as for United-bound Alexis Sanchez, the talk has never seen any continuation from Chelsea board.

Conte shortly dismissed Sanchez rumoursand Vidal counted himself out of any potential move, either.

The Chilean himself Mark Cadrenas reveals Chelsea would never move for the duo: ''Antonio Conte wants Vidal (30) and Alexis (29) but for Chelsea administration they are old.''

Loftus-Cheek injured with World Cup in doubt

3 hours ago BBC

Injury woes continue for Ruben

The on-loan Chelsea player has not featured since 28 December due to what was thought to be a minor injury. But Hodgson said Loftus Cheek could now be a doubt for this summer's World Cup.

"The injury is more severe than we originally thought, or perhaps hoped, it would be," said Hodgson. "I would be very disappointed, surgery or no surgery, if he's not playing before the end of the season," Hodgson said.

"We certainly want him to be and I would presume Chelsea would want him to be because they might like to have a player who's going to be selected for England in their squad but there's literally nothing we can do about it. The only way he can make himself available for Crystal Palace or England is to be fit and at the moment that isn't the case."

Loftus-Cheek is currently receiving treatment from medical staff at Palace and Chelsea.

Asked whether he could be a doubt for the World Cup in Russia, which kicks off on 14 June, Hodgson replied: I don't want to go into that at the moment because we don't know how long it would take after surgery to get him fit again."

Stoke deny Crouch approach from Chelsea

2 hours ago Sky Sports

BREATH OUT, lads!

Surprise reports on Thursday evening suggest Crouch is on Antonio Conte's shortlist of strikers as he looks for back up for Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi. Chelsea are believed to favour a loan deal.

However, Sky Sports News understands Stoke are not aware of any interest from Chelsea, and that they would be reluctant to let Crouch leave without a replacement lined up.

He has already made 21 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals. Crouch turns 37 at the end of this month, and signed a one-year contract extension at Stoke before Christmas.
