LVG says Arsenal is best in the league, but Chelsea can "finish a game"

In his post-match interview, Van Gaal said he thinks Arsenal may be the best team in the league, despite the fact that Chelsea clinched the title with three matches to play. LVG did use Chelsea as an example of a team that knows how to "finish a game", something he hopes his United side will improve on next season.

While Arsenal is known for playing a beautiful brand of football, Chelsea was accused of being "boring" for most of the season. All that boring play helped the Blues capture their fourth Premier League title with plenty of breathing room at the top.

No one knows that "boring" style more than Louis van Gaal, whose United side went to Stamford Bridge and dominated Chelsea in nearly every statistical category, yet lost to Jose Mourinho's men 1-0. Van Gaal talks about Chelsea's ability to finish off a game in which they have a lead, adapting defensively to ensure all three points. That skill at closing out games won Chelsea the Premier League title, something LVG is eyeing for next season.

Hatoki mtu hapa!!

Mourinho talks about youth development and Ruben Loftus-Cheek once again

ose Mourinho's obsession, if we want to call it an obsession, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek is starting to border a bit on the creepy side of things. Yes, he is watching you. Very intently. No pressure though!

"This year, the most important title for the academy was Ruben, not the Uefa Youth League or the FA Youth Cup. It was Ruben: the best trophy. I'm excited but I keep emotional control. If I don't I'd lose the players or help them go the wrong way but, yes, I am excited – but with stability. At this minute, that's what they need."

-Jose Mourinho; source: Guardian

So I'm assuming this means that we won't keep Ruben locked up in the trophy cabinet? He's basically flying the Chelsea Academy flag high and loud all by himself at the moment. We will let him out to play? We don't have to keep him separated!

"He played against Liverpool. He's going to play against West Bromwich. Next season he starts with us and is stable because he's part of the squad. He's not trying to win a position in it. He's part of it. He's not going on loan and knows that. They need that kind of stability, unless they play in very small clubs when, at 17 or 18, they go direct in the first team."

"But to be in a big team and reach the level to be playing regularly for the first team, you need time and stability. We try to give that to our boys."

-Jose Mourinho; source: Independent

Stability, stability, stability. Yet here comes that dichotomy again with other players getting sent out on loan. Unless you're the star youth trophy, off to the loan system you go.

"These kids trust us and know what we do is the best for them. They know the decisions for next season are the best decisions for them. Ruben is going to stay as a member of the first-team squad. The others who have been here in the seniors for one year [Christensen, if he signs a new contract, Aké, Jamal Blackman among others] are ready for the next step: that's not the first team but a loan to a good team, to a good league and then to come back.

"That would open space for kids who are now in the academy to be in the first-team squad next season. So imagine Christensen going on loan. If he does, he goes to a high-level market. It opens space for another defender in the academy now to become part of the first team. If his development in the first team is so strong, like Ruben's, that allows him to stay in the first team for ever, then perfect. If not, he reaches another level and gets another loan. So, for example, maybe Ola Aina will be in our first-team squad next year.

"We have this system in place for them - and I know it brings results."

-Jose Mourinho; source: Guardian

Some kids need the loans. Some kids need the stability. New signing Nathan will get the former - not that there's much choice considering he has zero hope of landing a work permit at the moment.

"Nathan will not be in Chelsea's squad next year, simple as that. You buy, in very good circumstances before the price goes to the moon. You develop the player. He belongs to you, is on loan, and in the right moment you bring him back."

-Jose Mourinho; source: Guardian

Finally, let's circle back to Ruben Loftus-Cheek once again, because his name is often brought up when potential signings like Paul Pogba are mentioned (just to pick a name at, you know, random).

"Maybe he'll end up being better than anyone I buy and, if that is the case, he'll play and the one I buy won't."

-Jose Mourinho; source: Guardian

Mkuu Manumbu please describe Ruben for me, nilimwona game ya Liverpool na nikaona medi ya Uingereza kama kawaida ikimsifia sana
