Fabregas rates Chelsea's season a seven or eight

Despite wrapping up the Premier League title with three matches remaining, Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has rated the Blues' season a mere 'seven or eight' out of 10.

Jose Mourinho's side have lost just three games all season - to Newcastle and Tottenham in the league and Bradford in the FA Cup - but Fabregas cites Champions League heartbreak as a reason for disappointment.

Speaking to 'El Partido de Las 12' on Spanish radio station Cadena Cope, Fabregas said: 'We had a great season. If I have to give it a score, I'd give a seven or eight.


'The only downside was going out to PSG.'

Chelsea were undone by the away goals rule in their round of 16 clash against Paris Saint-Germain, drawing 3-3 on aggregate but going out to the French champions.

Despite this, most would admit it has been a positive season for the 28-year-old and his team-mates. Fabregas has added a Premier League winners medal to his collection - the first of his career.

If the Champions League winner isn't among those seven clubs, they'd be the eighth team filling out the group. Inspired by 'amazing' first Chelsea start, Loftus-Cheek wants to work even harder and push-on to greater heights

oung Ruben Loftus-Cheek, a Chelsea boy through and through -- he joined the academy setup before turning 8 years old -- is well aware of the ever increasing pressure on the club to bring a youth product through the academy and into the first team. Ideally we'd do so before the last remaining such player in the squad retires.

Unfortunately, youth development is not an exact science. If it were, we'd be stuck in a virtual Football Manager world. What's best for one player isn't necessarily what's best for the next. While we often speak of a Chelsea process -- it generally goes: under-18 to under-21 to low-level loan to top-level loan to first-team or sale -- we cannot treat that as a one-size-fits-all methodology.

In Ruben Loftus-Cheek's case, the best option seems to be to keep him with the Chelsea first-team. We'd loan out most other 19-year-olds, but it seems we're planning on developing RLC purely "in-house." So far, the plan is working. Sunday's start against Liverpool was a major step forward, and one that is already bearing fruit.

Loftus-Cheek has always said the "right things" when it came to his development and Chelsea future, and he is saying the right things here as well. Hopefully, everything does indeed work out as we hope and he becomes our truly home-grown, world class legend.

Andre Schurrle becomes Premier League champion… via a text message from Jose Mourinho

Despite leaving Chelsea in January, German international winger Andre Schurrle is a Premier League champion.

That's right, under the PL's new rules any player who participated in five matches out of 38 receives a PL medal whereas in the past a player had to play in 10 or more games to be rewarded.

Now the PL hands out 40 medals to the club who wins the league and lets them distribute them as they see fit.

Schurrle played in 14 PL games for Chelsea, scoring three goals, in the 2014-15 season before being sold to Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg for $30 million right at the end of the January transfer window.

Talking to the BBC World Service, Schurrle revealed that he had no idea he would get a PL winners medal… until Jose Mourinho sent him a text message.


"I didn't know that I'd get a medal when I didn't play most of the second half of the season," Schurrle explained. "Jose Mourinho sent me a text to say that I'd get a medal and he asked me to come to the last game. That was very nice for me. I'm really happy for the boys. They played a very good second half of the season so of course me it's good to get a medal but the boys did the work."

Usually I get texts asking me to pick up some milk on my way home. Getting one about winning the PL isn't bad…

In all fairness, Schurrle deserves to get a medal as his goals against Manchester City, Burnley and Swansea made a difference. Looking back at past unlikely PL champions, players like Jack Rodwell (formerly of Manchester City) had just one start last season but was handed a medal on the final day of the season after making four substitute appearances to take his tally to five. Chelsea will also make sure the likes of Nathan Ake and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be rewarded despite not reaching the quota as Mourinho has only used 22 players in PL games this season. That's the fewest of any PL side so there will be plenty of medals to go around between his players and his coaching staff.

It's a pretty classy move from Chelsea as Schurrle will join the team in their celebrations on the final day of the season. The Blues will be awarded the Premier League trophy following their home game against Sunderland on May 24.

Mourinho reminds Salah that title-winning party awaits back at Stamford Bridge

n a way, this isn't as big of a gesture as Mourinho inviting André Schürrle back to the Premier League party at Stamford Bridge. Salah is still technically a Chelsea player. Schürrle isn't. Though it's highly likely that Salah won't be for much longer either - Fiorentina look all but set to make the successful, goal-filled loan move permanent. So in a way, this is also a very nice personal gesture from the Chelsea manager to one our least used and least effective first-team players from a season that saw us win a (second-rate) Cup and League Double.

Those are supposedly the texts from Jose Mourinho to Mohamed Salah, sent before Thursday's Europa League semifinal, second leg. Sadly, Salah and his purple-clad chums were dumped out rather unceremoniously by Sevilla (5-0 on aggregate), so there will be no Europa League glory for the 22-year-old.

At least he can rest easy in the knowledge that he will become the first Egyptian ever to win the Premier League. While Salah only made 3 appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League (and only 8 total in all competitions), the new rules allow teams to distribute their allotment of medals (40, in total) as they see fit, provided that every player with at least 5 league appearances gets one.

It's getting well past the time of the year when next season's Chelsea kits usually appear. In fact, it's become tradition nowadays to play the last game (or games, even) in the following season's shirts. This is how, for example, our terrible memories of Moscow actually feature the otherwise flawless 2008-09 kit.

That's not to say there haven't been leaks. Of course there have been leaks. There are always leaks. One style in particular, featuring a button collar, thin vertical stripes, and red piping has been appearing quite frequently, even way back during the winter, if not earlier.

The Blues are worthy champions,they set the pace from the first match and the have sat atop the table since Aug 30.Yet the man responsible for masterminding the journey to glory,Jose Mourinho,has been overlooked time after time for the Manager of the month award

Interestingly enough, back in 2006 ,Mourinho become the first manager to win the title without winning the monthly award,which was first presented in August 1993. The same has happen again this season,a fate that has yet to befall any other manager
 
Rival club owners, Managers ,Players and supporter appear unified by one opinion that is endorsed by football bandits and writers alike ''Mourinho is the best manager in the Premier League'' The fact that members of the Barclays panel have failed to grasp this fact during the course of this season devalues the award
