Battle: Dar es Salaam vs Nairobi

Battle: Dar es Salaam vs Nairobi

Jambo amabalo hamjui ni BRT si achievement and there's a lot to consider before implementing one. Hizo basi za BRT ziko hapa zinaoperate wih private companies. One big problem na kuleta BRT Kenya ni kuwa our matatus are in saccos and saccos have made billions of investments outside their core business kama majumba, agricuture etc. Huezi tu ukaamka na kusema hutaki they operate yet they might be servicing loans na pia wanaajiri thousands of people. Nowanda uliskia wameanza pole pole kunyima 14-seaters leseni ili kupunguza risk. Private companies pia wana ubabe wa kifedha na si rahisi kudetermine who buys what amount of shares kama BRT will be privatized. Usisahau your government ordered buses from a Kenyan company. You just have to put a lot of considerations before a BRT system in our country. Our economic systems are very different.

hamna bus toka Kenya imeagizwa toka Kenya! Hayo mabasi yalikataliwa yako old fashioned hayawezi ku-operate at our BRT!

$100 million towards compensation. Cost of Selander was budgeted at $90M but ended up $100 - 150 million. Mombasa Gate ni a 1.4km cable bridge with just two pillars with a span of 600+ meters close to the shores but Selander is about 600 meters long and has 14 or so pillars in a span of 40 meters. See the length itself is more than double that of selander. From a layman's argument, it means the cost in terms of length should be double ($100 m * 2). Add that $200 (Constructions of bridge) + $100 (compensation) gives you $300 million. Now lets go to the viaducts given that MSA Gate clearance is 69M. From the two main spans (apprx. 600m wide), the side spans are apprx. 300 meters. Imagine the size of the ramps. The main approach roads and those that require widening total to about 9km. See if the cost is inflated its probably $10-20 million.
ati Selander bridge is 600m? huu upumbavu unatoa wap?

You need no rocket science to understand why the Mombasa gate bridge is so expensive, the huge span between the main pillars and the high clearance of 69M since its located across a busiest sea channel for ships approaching the port of Mombasa... compare that with this bridge that has a pillar after every 25M or so. again the ramp and road length upgrade approaching the bridge, just incomparable.

Wacha ku-distort ukweli!

*GoT has signed a concessional loan agreement of $91 million with EXIM Bank of South Korea for this project which will link the CBD to Msasani.

*Project financing ratio 83:17 [Exim : GoT]

*Project will commence in the next 6 months [March 2016]

*Roads will be widened to 4 lanes.

*The Bridge will have a length of 1.03 km

*It will involve Toure and Kenyatta drives along Msasani Pennisula; and Barack Obama Drive near Agha Khan Hospital and Ocean Road Hospital.

I said $100 - 150M. Kuwa na pillar nyingi inamaanisha the bridge is not that high to require longer and higher viaducts that call for more space and more expenses.

and how do u have to explain finding a hardrock at seabed? Unajua pillars will have to go deeper till they hit a hardrock in the sea bed! wacha ujinga ku-compare kurundika kifusi on mainland to elevate a bridge to finding a hardrock in the bedsea!

Umekatwa kichwa? Unaandika nini sasa hapa? Hebu summarize Bhas hapo. Cost na urefu wa hizo Bridge's. Wacha assumption zako weka figure zilizopo on paper.

Unaongea nini jomba!! Ugulia tu mzee

Peleka usenge mbali. Hiyo ghorofa ya blue imeletwa hapo juu kwenye huu kurasa Na mmoja wenu (post #161,453) imerudiwa mara ngapi hapa ndani? Nyinyi ndio wale nyani wasioona kundu zao but are so quick kuona za wenzao
Tatizo wewe unarudia rudia picha wewe mwenyewe siyo tu kwamba wakenya Wawili wamerudia jengo moja wewe kila siku unapost picha hizohizo

Order ilikuwa cancelled! Mabasi ya Kenya yali-fail to meet requirements!

BTW Likoni bridge span is 450m taking the measures of the span of the structure on water i.e. from te two pillars P2 n P3! A reason no need for pillars as that's the channel ships will underpass!

likoni-jpg.646212

Muache upumbavu wa ku-compare mega structures (1.03 km) over the Indian ocean to footbridge (450m) over a ditch (Mombasa channel)!

Hawa majamaa wa gorofa tatu wamefura vichwa tu. Ukiwaonyeha hizi wataanza kukwambia hamna ocean.
Wahenga hawakukosea waliposema bora unyimwe mali usinyimwe akili....akili yako mbovu kwelikweli

Katafute data kisha kuja unirekebishe kaka. Urefu juu ya maji haijafika 700 meters. Hiyo 1km ni urefu hadi kwa land. Nikama sisi tuseme yetu ni 4.7km
Hujui lolote wewe...Hadi kwenye land umesha ona mcholo daraja linaishia wapi..??
