19 years ago, Kenya Airways Airbus A310-300 registration 5Y-BEN, tagged "The Harambee Star" and flying on callsign KQ431 from Abidjan to Nairobi via Lagos, crashed into the Atlantic ocean just after 9pm local time. Out of the 179 pax on board, only 10 survived.
This was Kenya Airways's first ever crash that had recorded fatalities. Kenya Airways retired all its Airbus fleet in 2004
