Tanzania: More Tourists From Indonesia Expected

allafrica.com

Jan 19, 2018 12:50 PM

LACK of direct flights between Dar es Salaam and Jakarta coupled with little information on tourist attractions in Tanzania among Indonesians, have been cited as among factors leading to few tourists from the Southeast Asian country.

However, officials at the Indonesian Embassy in Dar es Salaam are upbeat that there could be an increase of between two and five per cent in the coming years from the current 350 backpackers from Indonesia.

The Head of Protocol and Consular Affairs at the embassy, Mr Raska Ibrahim, said when responding to questions from the 'Daily News' at an occasion to receive two bikers from Indonesia who are travelling from Cape Town in South Africa to Cairo in Egypt.

"The purpose of the tour is to explore and record the natural beauty and culture of every country, the information is posted back home on social media," Mr Ibrahim stated. The two bikers include Mr Mario Iroth and his partner, Ms Lilis Handayani. The official was positive that through the tour, there will be more information of Tanzania in Indonesia and vice versa.

According to him, Serengeti National Park, Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro Mountain are the most known tourist attractions in his country. Ms Handayani echoed the sentiments by the diplomat, stating that they seek to promote their country and the countries they visit along the tour.

The two bikers started their first tour adventure in the year 2013 across seven countries in Southeast Asia as well as several nations on Australia and Europe. In October, last year, each riding a 250cc-powered, CRF25O motorcycle, they embarked on the African tour.

They started their journey from Durban through Pietermaritzburg, Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa. They then proceeded to Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique, after which they will arrive in Dar es Salaam.

"We made six months preparations before embarking on this journey; it has been easy for us to ride in Tanzania from Mbeya to Dar es Salaam, because the road is tarmacked and there are adequate filling stations," Mr Iroth explained.

"I have been posting pictures on social media for people in Indonesia to prove them wrong, since some of them regard Africa as somewhere which is unsafe," he explained. From Tanzania, the adventurers will head to Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan and finally Cairo in Egypt.

Kwa namna Tanzania ilivyobarikiwa na mbuga na vivutio vingi vya kitalii ni ngumu sana kusema ni mkoa upi wenye vivutio vingi kushinda mwingine each Tanzania's region has crowned with a unique spectacular attraction which will never spare your wooooow whenever you encountered it in each of the 31 administrative regions Tanzania own. [HASHTAG]#Katavi[/HASHTAG] has one or many of them.

How do Americans view Kenya?

For most uneducated Americans, Kenya is viewed as a dirty, backward, and violent country. They get mental pictures of black people living in grass huts, covered in dirt, with almost no clothing, and flies crawling on their faces. They picture a life of extreme poverty and starving children with no ability to improve without outside help. Kenyan cities are seen as composed of shacks , filled with violent Muslims and run by warlords.

i have just eaten my lunch at a mama ntilie local restaurant.

the delicious food which is a mixture of cooked rice(ubwabwa), beans, fish and vegetable, cost me tsh2500 only(ksh115.77).
f6647ef6fb5c465738c43a8303d09990.jpg

NB
in nairobi ,the same food would cost me more than ksh300(tsh6552) for a plate.

you can imagine why many nairobians when the go to a local restaurant, opt to order githeri(makande) ,the cheapest, ugly and tasteless food in kenya.

btw "mama ntilie" stands for self employed women who own local restaurants that provide the service of
selling local food.

there are many mama ntilies in nairobi.
tanzanians are very stupid...so you expect the cost of a plate of fish in a coastal city to be the same as a plate of the same in an inland city? my friend, the reason why fish is cheap in Dar is because Dar is a coastal city..mtu anavua samaki tu na baada ya dakika chahche chakula kiko mezani tayari kuliwa...for instance, a plate of fish will cost more in Nairobi than in Mombasa or Kisumu for instance because of transportation and refrigeration costs etc...simple reasoning......

Why don't you just google Trans Nzoia or Kitale and see who literally feeds Kenya instead of equating it to unrelated stuff
