The 'soul' in this context refers to the historical and cultural heritage of our country related to the building.
The name of the building, 'IKULU' comes from the word 'MAKULU' in kigogo (a bantu language of the natives of Dodoma, which means the residency of Mtemi or Chief). That building is a blend of both African and Arabic architecture reflecting the people of the coastal area.
During the WWI, it was bombed to the ground and later rebuilt by the British. Every section has some historic background and soul to it, from the original central block, the Princess Margaret wing, all the way to the Kikwete building. You're just mad because yours (in Nairobi) don't even have an native name to it, no soul.

Huyo we usibishane nae aisee.
Kwa nini unaandika upuuzi?😎First of all, Ikulu is not a specific name of the Tanzanian Statehous. Ikulu is simply the Swahili word for the Head of State's residence or a King's residence. Thus we have Ikulu ya Kenya, Ikulu ya Tanzania, Ikulu ya Marekani etc. We refer to the Kenyan State House as Ikulu all the time and Swahili is a native Kenyan language so I don't even get where your absurd argument on having a native name is coming from. It's even laughable that you would think I'm mad about it when I didn't even view it that way to begin with which renders your whole argument null and void for being based on a false premise.
Secondly, a name does not give a city a soul. The soul of a city is found in it's culture, architecture, social life and general attractiveness of a city. A name is just a name.
Thirdly, the 'historical heritage' of the Tanzanian (Dar es Salaam) State House is just as 'historical and cultural' as the Kenyan one. Both were built by colonial powers without the voice or the say of the locals. One thing to note though, while the Nairobi and Dar State Houses blended well with the surrounding city, the Dodoma one looks forced. It's simply a replica of what was constructed in Dar by the colonialists. One would expect now that you're building a new capital, you would come up with something uniquely Tanzanian - you didn't. You are building a new soulless capital. Yours is more (actually worse) of a Brasilia than a Canberra or Washington.
🤣🤣🤣Huyo kabla sijamjua alinipanikisha sana.View attachment 2925625
Mimi nimesha drop mic kwakwe, nimempa mpaka historical evidence, alie akalale, siwezi endelea kumjibu. Hapo juu ni google map screenshot inayoonesha eneo la Mvumi likionesha vijiji vingi ikiwemo mvumi mission alipozaliwa Malecela, ambapo kuna hospitali kubwa ya macho (ilijengwa kabla ya uhuru). Mvumi Makulu ndipo yalipokuwa makazi ya Mtemi Mazengo.
🤣🤣🤣 Kumbe DODOMA inakuumiza kinoma na usemi, utakufa fala wewe, gvt city iko designed ku accommodate amenities zote zenye umetaja hapo. Ni vile priority number 1 ilikua ni kutengeneza kwanza hizo ministries zote hapo zenye unaona then vitu vingine vifuate. Mf hii ni monument ambayo itakua na park for community to interact ipo under construction hiv tunavyoongea sasahiv 👇l. A concrete jungle of boring government buildings with nothing else - no recreation, no shopping, no entertainment, no parks, no academic institutions, no vegetation, nowhere for humans to interact and tacky copy of Arab architecture. Nothing screams lack of soul like your city. Brasilia even sounds better.
this is serious...weh!75% of your workforce are primary school dropouts.
Eti render ndio tunaringishiwa? Na mijitu haijifunzi TULILETEWA PINNACLE, TUKAJA SGR, TUKAJA ONE OF KIND BUS TERMINUS. Omba matokeo sasa.
Duh!
Okay let see.
Mbona nyumba zina fangasi? Picha imepigwa make up lkn nyumba zinakataa make up fungus kama zote, mombasa kweli ni mji mkongwe 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Kenya's second biggest city
Upo sawa wewe!!!!
Tunajifariji tu hapa lkn Dar haifikikii Nairobi….Huu ni ukweli mchungu hata ukiangalia malls zilizopo Nrb dar hakuna…
Barabara zao hazina upuuzi wa 50 speed wala matuta hasa highway kama huku kwetu…kupotezeana muda tu.
Kingereza kingi afu hamna hela..........nyie vilaza kweli.......nchi yenyewe asilimia 50% jangwa. It's tacky, you can borrow and do a good thing but yours is just tacky. You speak of lacking a soul like someone who doesn't understand what lacking a soul means. You are building a capital on the edge of a town and the capital is full of government buildings whose architecture is a direct yet poor copy of either Arab architecture or the original structure built in Dar es Salaam by your colonists. In case you don't understand what lacking a soul means - that's the exact definition of lacking a soul.
Huyo ni wale wapumbavu ambao wanaishi kwa kufikiri, huyo hata namanga au horohoro hajawahi kufika anakariri tu mshambaHumo kichwani uko sawa sawa kweli!?
