I doubt it. Si kila mgeni anayekuja Tanzania anahitaji kuwa mtanzania. Wengine wanakuja kufanya shughuli zao na wanalipa fees Kwa kadri ya sheria zisemavyo.

Wale wanaohitaji kuwa nationals Mara nyingi wana spouse mtanzania au ni watoto ambao mzazi wao mmoja ni mtanzania. Unaona ni Sawa kuwazuia hawa watu uraia?

Dar es Salaam, Djibouti and Berbera ports have toppled Mombasa in the World Bank’s latest ranking on the most efficient ports, highlighting the competition fears that Kenya has had over Tanzania becoming a preferred route for shippers.

The third edition of the global Container Port Performance Index has ranked the Mombasa port at position 326 in 2022 out of the 348 ports worldwide that were assessed, behind the regional peers in eastern Africa.

Kenya’s main port recorded a steep decline from the 2021 report where it was placed at position 296 by the World Bank.

The ports are ranked based on their efficiency, measured by the elapsed time between when a ship reaches a port to its departure from the berth having completed its cargo exchange.

The World Bank notes that efficient operation of the port is key to the development of trade in the region, pointing out that there has been significant improvement in business since 2020 when the marine industry recorded reduced activities in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Improving port efficiency is essential for unlocking Africa’s growth and development,” said Martin Humphreys, lead transport economist at the World Bank.

“Africa’s ports are vital gateways for trade and commerce, and efficient operation contributes to food security. Their efficient operation is a key determinant in whether Africa achieves its economic potential.”

This comes even as Tanzania’s Port of Dar es Salaam has in recent years staged stiff competition, threatening to pull most of the ships plying the East African waters into their harbour.

In the ranking, the Tanzanian port recorded improvement from the 2021 ranking to stand at position 312 from 361 previously.

Data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) shows the volume of cargo handled by Mombasa port dipped for the first time in five years in 2022, with players pointing to rising competition from Dar es Salaam.

Total cargo throughput at the port shrunk to 33.74 million tonnes last year from 34.76 million tonnes the year before, according to KNBS.

The 2.93 percent year-on-year drop pushed the volumes to the lowest levels since 2018 when it stood at 30.92 million tonnes.

Among the report highlights are China’s Yangshan Port, which topped the ranking despite periods of heavy disruption caused by typhoons and various other factors in 2022.

The Port of Berbera (144), Djibouti (26), Port Elizabeth (291), Durban (341) and Cape Town (344) are among the ports that were assessed in sub-Saharan Africa.

Bandari za Dar es Salaam, Djibouti na Berbera zimeipita Mombasa katika orodha ya hivi punde ya Benki ya Dunia kwenye bandari zenye ufanisi zaidi, ikionyesha hofu ya ushindani ambayo Kenya imekuwa nayo juu ya Tanzania kuwa njia inayopendelewa kwa wasafirishaji.
Toleo la tatu la Matokeo ya Utendaji kazi wa Bandari ya Kontena duniani limeweka bandari ya Mombasa katika nafasi ya 326 mwaka wa 2022 kati ya bandari 348 duniani kote ambazo zilitathminiwa, nyuma ya bandari hizo za Afrika mashariki.
Bandari kuu ya Kenya ilirekodi kushuka kwa kasi kutoka kwa ripoti ya 2021 ambapo iliwekwa katika nafasi ya 296 na Benki ya Dunia.
Bandari hizo zimeorodheshwa kulingana na ufanisi wao, unaopimwa na muda uliopita kati ya wakati meli inafika bandarini hadi kuondoka kutoka kwenye kituo ikiwa imekamilisha kubadilishana mizigo.
Benki ya Dunia inabainisha kuwa uendeshaji mzuri wa bandari hiyo ni muhimu kwa maendeleo ya biashara katika eneo hilo, ikisema kuwa kumekuwa na uboreshaji mkubwa katika biashara tangu 2020 wakati sekta ya usafiri wa baharini ilirekodi shughuli zilizopunguzwa kutokana na janga la Covid-19.
"Kuboresha ufanisi wa bandari ni muhimu kwa kufungua ukuaji na maendeleo ya Afrika," alisema Martin Humphreys, mwanauchumi mkuu wa usafiri katika Benki ya Dunia.
"Bandari za Afrika ni lango muhimu kwa biashara na uendeshaji bora unachangia usalama wa chakula. Uendeshaji wao wenye ufanisi ni kigezo muhimu cha kuamua ikiwa Afrika itafikia uwezo wake wa kiuchumi."
Haya yanajiri wakati Bandari ya Dar es Salaam ya Tanzania katika miaka ya hivi karibuni imekuwa na ushindani mkubwa, na kutishia kuvuta meli nyingi zinazoingia katika bahari ya Afrika Mashariki kwenye bandari yao.
Katika orodha hiyo, bandari ya Tanzania ilirekodi kuimarika kutoka nafasi ya 2021 hadi kushika nafasi ya 312 kutoka 361 ya awali.
Takwimu kutoka Ofisi ya Kitaifa ya Takwimu ya Kenya (KNBS) zinaonyesha kiasi cha mizigo inayohudumiwa na bandari ya Mombasa kilishuka kwa mara ya kwanza katika kipindi cha miaka mitano mwaka wa 2022, huku wadau wakiashiria kuongezeka kwa ushindani kutoka Dar es Salaam.
Jumla ya shehena ya mizigo bandarini ilipungua hadi tani milioni 33.74 mwaka jana kutoka tani milioni 34.76 mwaka uliopita, kulingana na KNBS.
Kushuka kwa asilimia 2.93 kwa mwaka kulifanya idadi hiyo kuwa ya chini kabisa tangu 2018 ilipofikia tani milioni 30.92.

Yes in CCM rankings....I thought you are more communist than a democracy…. A true Democracy does not involve one party autocratic rule….You have had one party rule since independence….. TANU is CCM….same animal just different clothes..
Hiyo "Democracy ranking" ni kwa mujibu wa "UN bodies", sio Tanzania, ingia google utaona. Kuhusu CCM kuongoza tangu tupate uhuru, vipi kuhusu South Africa(ANC), Mozambique (FRELIMO), Namibia, Botswana, Angola, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Sychelles, Mauritius?.

Tutaendelea kuwaburuza katika demokrasia hadi mwisho wa Dunia. Ninyi kwenu ni ukabila tu, hata demokrasia hamuijui.
